The sets at the Coronation Street Experience provide a glimpse of some of the UK's most iconic workplaces - an appropriate setting for us to present at the Wellbeing at Work World Summit UK. We engaged with leading employers at the event to understand if gambling harm prevention is part of their wellbeing offering to staff, and if not, why not? The interest in our sessions shows that it's a growing priority for the UK's employers and we look forward to working further with the event's attendees to help them mitigate the risks that gambling could pose to their workforce. #gambling #problemgambling #gamblingharm #harmprevention #wellbeing #wellbeingatwork

6️⃣ sessions with student-athletes and staff over 2️⃣ days This week presented a busy schedule in Chicago for Patrick Chester and Stevin 'Hedake' Smith, but it was well worth it as they were able to engage across the DePaul University Athletics roster and make them all aware of possible gambling harm they could face - whether or not they've ever contemplated wagering for themselves. With this week's heightened attention on the online abuse that many student-athletes are facing, it's vital that we continue to engage with as many of the aspiring stars from the NCAA as we can, to make them aware of the potential challenges of competing in the public eye, backed by the lived experience testimonials of the likes of Patrick and Hedake who have been through relatable experiences. They were joined in Chicago by another new member of our team, Jake Sanford. #gambling #problemgambling #gamblingharm #harmprevention #NCAA

There goes Global Gaming Expo for 2024 and I think it was the best yet! People often ask ‘what’s it like going to Vegas as someone who suffered a serious gambling problem?’ and it’s a valid point. At first I hated it but now, nearly 13 years since my last bet, I see it as a crucial week of work. It’s where the whole gambling ecosystem comes together every year and lots of contacts are made and deals are done. A brilliant week of meetings, education seminars, deal conversations, new connections and not least some fun. Way too many people to thank and mention but definite highlights were Rasmus Kjaergaard Rasmus Sojmark (he knows how to throw a party) Jonathan Hirshler Martin Lycka Betting and Gaming Council Grainne Hurst Daniel Umfleet Adam Rivers Leonardo Villalobos Nigel Hinchliffe Julie Hynes Christine H. Thurmond Brett Abarbanel Alison Kutler Jennifer Shatley, D.P.P. Bill Pascrell, III (BP3) Richard L. Taylor, Jr. (loved the golf, if not the heat) Garrett Farnes Stephen Martino Mark Hicks Jim Brown Tom Mace Anna Sainsbury Global Gaming Women Peter Jackson Svend Aage Lykke Linderoth Kirk Mary Donohue Tammi Barlow-Marang MBA Paula Murphy Stephen A. Bill Miller Jon Russell Joe Maloney and finally, finally getting to meet the inspirational David Yeager, ICGC-I. Also want to thank my EPIC Global Solutions team Teresa Fiore Mike Holinski Daniel Spencer Jalen Metsch … it’s been a blast. Work hard, play hard 👏🏻 Until 2025 …. #G2E2024

Important research released today from our partners NCAA and Signify around the online abuse faced by student athletes, coaches and officials. Stresses again the importance of fit for purpose education and abuse initiatives across not only college athletes, but also pro sports. Great to meet in Las Vegas this week with Jonathan Hirshler and Mark Hicks to explore ways of expanding collaborations in an athlete / player centric way across the NCAA and sports around the world. Much more on its way … EPIC Global Solutions NCAA Signify Mark Hicks Clint Hangebrauck John Millington Teresa Fiore Jonathan Hirshler Jake Marsh
Today the NCAA and Signify released an important report documenting online abuse faced by athletes, coaches and officials in NCAA Championships during 2023-24. It was an honor to be part of this project team. Meta compiled the graphics below to highlight key features you can use in Instagram to hide/block unwanted comments and protect your mental well-being--some of which you likely didn't know existed. "Something has happened in the last couple years, where asking for reimbursement has become more prevalent. In their mind, they're owed something." EPIC's Patrick Chester speaks to ESPN, sharing what we've been hearing on the ground during our #NCAA education sessions, with student-athletes being pursued online for repayment of losses from those whose bets haven't come in. The emerging story underlines why raising awareness of gambling-related harm - as we've already done for more than 72,000 across the NCAA divisions - is just as important for those who never consider wagering as it is for those who may be tempted. ⚠️ Adult themes and language This year's #WorldMentalHealthDay focuses on mental health in the workplace, and EPIC's Stevin 'Hedake' Smith found to his cost that gambling harm connected to his basketball career had severe mental consequences. Learn more about Hedake's story and how, in recovery, he is sharing it with audiences to help them avoid a repeat of the scenario he faced: bit.ly/EPICxHedake As ever on awareness days like #WorldMentalHealthDay, if you're experiencing concerns relating to your #mentalhealth in your work or home life, we always advise reaching out to people who can help, like those listed here: https://lnkd.in/ec42CDDt #gambling #problemgambling #gamblingharm #harmprevention

A busy and insightful panel at Global Gaming Expo today debating the importance of prioritising RG education in student athletes with Martin Lycka (Entain) Bill Pascrell, III (BP3) (PPAG), Teresa Fiore (EPIC Global Solutions) and Mark Hicks (NCAA). Some important takeaways: > Education of student athletes, student administrators and compliance teams is crucial > EPIC Global Solutions, as the official education partner of NCAA, have now seen over 72,000 student athletes across 268 colleges in the first 3 years of a 5 year contract > RG is crucially important to a sustainable #gambling industry and all parts of the ecosystem have a part to play including operators, politicians, media, sports leagues, regulators and suppliers. Now is the time to ramp up vital programmes rather than cut back > College athlete abuse is becoming more widespread and the NCAA are working directly with both EPIC and Signify to combat this growing threat > The EPIC education programme is providing invaluable data and evidence that is being used to inform policy right upto President Charlie Baker. > The work has only just begun. There are 1,100 colleges and 500,000 student athletes at any one time and education is vital to the prevention of harm > Entain multi-year support of this programme is appreciated and making a huge impact EPIC Global Solutions Entain NCAA Global Gaming Expo
