A record breaking 1,500 people are joining the UK #space sector year on year… Is it any wonder that there is such a focus on skills at Space-Comm Expo Scotland, today…? I found the panel session chaired by Prof Iain H Woodhouse 🌍🛰 (伊恩・伍德豪斯 教授) particularly intriguing: he asked the panellists and audience: “ What essential non-technical (“soft”?) #skills are currently missing in this rapidly expanding sector - what would you like to see being taught or nurtured…?” Great question! The initial list from, amongst others, Dr. Melissa Patton , Joseph Dudley , Elliott Stott-Briggs , Janice Andrew looked like this: - Leadership - Selling - Collaboration - Problem solving - Curiosity - Communication - Pro-Active can-do attitude - Risk-taking and courage - Admitting that you don’t know everything! Anyone who knows about our mission at Eureka!Europe will completely understand why I was so exercised by this initial list of skills and attitudes needed for our Space sector! It completely chimes with our extensive experience of helping leaders and teams to work smarter… 🙋🏻♂️But I had to volunteer another, critical skills - already mentioned at least 50-100 times just that morning: “What about #INNOVATION..?!” I asked. I have to say that was a suggestion quickly adopted, with enthusiastic nods and vocal support, rounding out the list of key skills for enabling and sustaining the kind of meteoric growth that the UK and Scottish space sector is preparing for… The future feels bright.
