CLEAR YOUR WEEKEND, IT'S TWO FOR THE PRICE OF ONE! 🤩 It's double trouble this week on Eastern Promise! There's so much amazing stuff to share, it won't wait a moment longer! EPISODE 119: In which our heroes discuss the route to successful placemaking in The Brecks; a beautiful part of Norfolk sitting almost exactly halfway 'twixt #Cambridge and #Norwich! Joining me to examine how we leverage that location - AND do right by existing places and people - are Cllr Sarah Suggitt, Executive Member for Housing & Planning and Strategic Growth Manager Stephen Scowen, both of Breckland Council; Esmee Wilcox, FRSA of Socially Adept; forest village advocate Matt Wood of Feilden+Mawson; #Thetford Town Council Deputy Mayor Carla Barreto; and my constant companion on this miniseries, Mills & Reeve placemaking guru Anna Aldous! Listen to episode 119 here: 🍏Apple: https://lnkd.in/eKwSe_9G 🐞Spotify: https://lnkd.in/e9nZJuHr 📺YouTube: https://lnkd.in/eCeeVnqt 🎵MP3: https://lnkd.in/eYx9uQMF My thanks to the panel for such a wonderful discussion that I couldn't cut down, so instead I've elected to release it over two episodes at once! EPISODE 120: In which our heroes head to the House of Commons for an event on the Terrace Pavillion, hosted by #Peterborough MP Andrew Pakes, Sam Carling MP, the Member for North West #Cambridgeshire, and the Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Combined Authority. "Our Time is Now!" is the call, and I caught up with Mayor Dr Nik Johnson at the event where, along with Greater Anglia's Jonathan Denby, we chat about the message the event is sending loud and clear. Then! We conclude our roundtable on #placemaking on the Cambridge-Norwich corridor. Whilst assembling the Stage 4 package for a new Passivhaus design, our client was given a fully immersive virtual tour using cutting-edge VR equipment. This experience allowed both our team and the client to walk through the space, refine design details, and ensure functionality aligns with expectations. #VirtualReality #VRinArchitecture #Passivhaus

It was great to attend the East of England Sustainable Building Network 2nd breakfast seminar yesterday. Many thanks to Cannon Clarke Architects for hosting the event and to those guest speakers Alison Pooley and Chloe Donovan. Both delivered a thoroughly enjoyable and thought provoking presentation with lots to think about, specifically in the embodied energy arena. Great to catch up with new and old faces. Maybe next time, I'll stick to just the one breakfast!
