Flint’s Asia-Pacific team has produced a handbook for the Asia Cloud Computing Association (ACCA) on AI governance. The handbook breaks down the more complex aspects of this issue for policymakers, explaining the distinction between AI developers and deployers and recommending an approach for distributing responsibility along the AI supply chain. Flint’s Asia-Pacific team is supporting clients in multiple sectors to navigate and engage with the fast-moving regulatory environment on AI. Contact David Skelton and Ewan Lusty if you would like to understand how we can support you. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eR2FzMsD

Flint Global Partner Mark Austen and Director Ewan Lusty were interviewed by Asian Private Banker on the policy and regulatory landscape for AI in Asia-Pacific. In the interview, Mark explained that “most financial services firms don’t yet have an overall view on where AI is going, and a policy internally on how they plan to deploy it. When they decide to use AI, it tends to be either very US-centric or European-centric”. Ewan added that “one of the things that we’re advising banks is to have clear and streamlined processes for reviewing use cases for potential compliance issues,” but that firms in the financial services sector also need to consider their strategy for government and regulatory engagement: “Regulators are still determining their approach to these issues and want to hear from businesses on the practical steps they are putting in place to mitigate risks”. 🔗 Read in full here https://lnkd.in/eqgeu-Jj

We are always happy to host young people from the Patchwork Foundation at the Flint Global office in London. Our 'Insight Day' was an opportunity for participants in the Patchwork Speaker's Parliamentary Gateway Scheme to learn more about Flint. The aim was to give them insight into what we do, the roles and responsibilities of our team members, and their wider experience.
Our Speaker’s House interns had some more fascinating insight days last week, learning more about different civil society and political organisations. The group visited the US Embassy in London, learning more about the work of the diplomatic services and understanding the inner workings of the US-UK Special Relationship. They then spent the day at Flint Global, learning about their work as a leading political consultancy and finding out more about the varied and exciting work Flint carry out. Thanks to the Embassy of the United States of America, London and Flint Global #GetInvolved

We were delighted to work alongside Macquarie Group for a joint event on #energytransition, where we heard from Scotland's First Minister John Swinney MSP.
This week, alongside Flint Global, we welcomed over 40 guests to our Edinburgh office to hear from Scotland’s First Minister, John Swinney MSP, who spoke about the country’s progress in tackling challenges and realising opportunities presented by the #EnergyTransition. Joined by our regional portfolio companies (AGS Airports, Corio Generation, KCOM, National Gas, Storegga) and other senior leaders in Scotland’s energy and investment sector, the event provided an opportunity for an open discussion with the First Minister on his approach to government, outlook for Scotland’s economy and energy transition ambitions.
