At #COP16, biodiversity is taking center stage—not only in our ecosystems but also in the diverse & vibrant exchange of ideas and solutions. FOLU’s Senior Advisor, Edward Davey shares his experience and insights from the conference, highlighting the transformative potential within our food systems: the power of regenerative agriculture, the importance of sustainable, diverse, and healthy diets, and the critical role of regional & cross-sector collaboration in driving change. Latin America, with Colombia leading the way, exemplifies how transformed #foodsystems can both nourish communities and safeguard biodiversity. This commitment shines at COP16, and we aim to harness this leadership to inspire impactful global action—from Cali to Belem and beyond. ▶ Across Latin America, a powerful movement is emerging that champions regenerative agriculture—a model that can support on-farm biodiversity and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. With the region responsible for 25% of global food exports, Latin America is positioned to lead a worldwide shift in agricultural practices. Ahead of COP30 in Brazil next year, we have a unique opportunity to make regeneration central to the global agenda. Let's #ProtectWhatWeLove At #COP16 in Colombia, leaders from around the world call for ‘a year of united action on climate, nature and food’. In a letter to President Petro of Colombia and President Lula of Brazil, a group of leaders – representing business, finance, science, civil society, Indigenous Peoples, and youth – have announced their support for the COP16 and #COP30 Presidents to mobilize actors globally in a year of united action from Cali to Belém. With leadership from Colombia and Brazil, signatories point to the next 12 months as an historic opportunity for the world to change course and strengthen integrated action on climate, nature and food systems. As governments approach the February 2025 deadline to submit updated NDCs, signatories - including FOLU - write that "we can make ‘peace with nature’ the principle that gives shape to these national climate action plans.“ Read the letter here: https://lnkd.in/eCM8UtQq #ProtectWhatWeLove #WithNature #FoodSystems #COP16Colombia Morgan Gillespy Alessia Mortara Edward Davey Clement Perry Claudia Martinez Virginia Antonioli Patricia Ellen da Silva Vinicius Younes Natacci E3 - Ecología, Economía y Ética World Resources Institute Global Optimism Nature4Climate High-Level Climate Champions
