We are more than proud of Oluwafunmbi Adeagbo who mobilised more than 1200 people to put her as their prefferred RIBA president in an election which attracted less than 5000 votes! Funmbi was eloquent and erudite in every single interview and put forward the arguments for rapid climate action, worker's rights and equality and equity incredible well! Well done! I still can't believe it's been a year since I was cleaning the outside the RIBA headquarters doing my own saturday environmental! Labour of love. 😅 You take care of the things you #Value the most. For me the profession ranks pretty high on the list...Sorry family, the community and the planet rank higher 😏 but of course they are linked. You are all part of the community shaping the spaces people live. Students, Researchers, Educators, Practitioners, activist. The list goes on The RIBA is but one of the institutions our communities has that is a platform for transformative change. The #President may be the face but all the the parts need to be in #good_health. In that last few years I've become a #happy_cleaner and collaborator. Eventful day, yesterday on the campaign trail for the presidency of the #RIBA! My first solo Instagram live. (Support by the Black Females In Architecture ). It was an open forum for anyone to ask questions... being connected with the community is an essential part of healthy leadership. Made my way to the much anticipated Part W Reimagining Women's Work at Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBStudios). Another great even part of the London Festival of Architecture. Presentation and discussion did not disappoint. I left with a handy women's map of London! #flyonthewall Then raced down across the river on the invitation of the lovely Holly Harrington to join the urbanista for their social. Been eyeing up the group for months. But only now I'm officially a freelancer, did I feel the validation of needed to enter into those enterprinual spaces. Crazy considering I am a business woman by birth.😅 Its funny no matter how bold you are in some areas of life insecurity can always creep in. Thanks for and evening of Women empowering women! Oluwafunmbi Adeagbo is one of three candidates standing for the RIBA presidency. Instead usual tepid presidential interviews which often dodge tricky issues I wanted to frankly speak with Adeagbo and pose her some tough questions head-on. I asked her about unpaid labour, whether RIBA should continue banking with Barclays and how she would, as president, lobby the incoming Government for change.

I am so happy to see Oluwafunmbi Adeagbo made it onto the list! We worked hard to get another worker aligned with Just Transition Lobby principles. I will be voting for her! We have seen what Muyiwa Oki PRIBA has done for the perception of architects outside of the narrow echo chamber we often are in! I believe Funmbi will continue the good work to rehabilitate the profession with the public and peers, domestically and internationally 😍
