We have an exciting opportunity for a Steel Fixer to join our dynamic team. As a Steel Fixer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the evolving needs of the organisation, working closely with the Project/Site Manager and the site engineer to ensure the precise placement and fixing of reinforcement steel for various concrete elements, in accordance with structural engineers’ drawings and bar bending schedules. Your responsibilities will include setting out the work area, utilising hand and power tools, tying steel reinforcement bars, fitting spacers and chairs, fixing steel to concrete bases, and collaborating with the construction team to ensure timely and high-quality project completion. The ideal candidate should possess a valid CSCS Blue Card, relevant experience as a Steel Fixer, the ability to interpret RC Rebar drawings and bar bending schedules, and a strong commitment to upholding health and safety regulations. Last Friday, the energy of the Euro Championships sparked our inaugural charity football match at the Gallagher Stadium, Maidstone, where Gallagher Group faced off against McLaren Construction Group! While the score ended 5-0 to McLaren, the real victory was for the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity and Heart of Kent Hospice. We were proud to host a fun filled work experience with the year 12 students for the The Malling School last week. The students were given the opportunity to shape Gallaghers continuing strive for improvement with a road safety campaign aimed at primary and secondary school students. The group of 22 young people spend three days considering how they would write and deliver a campaign to raise awareness of the dangers around safety on the roads – from lines of sight to stopping distances they immersed themselves into delivering a message to inform and protect children from being involved in accidents. A Gallagher truck was taken to the school for the students to gain a first-hand perspective of the drivers view and to imagine how devastating a truck could be if it encountered a child. One student said "I had not realised how easily I could be missed until I sat in the drivers’ seat, and when it was explained how long it would take the truck to stop if it hit someone, I was shocked, It was nearly the length of our playing field. I will certainly take more care in the future"! The innovative campaigns were then judged in a ‘Dragons Den’ style presentation to Lyndsey Gallagher Gallagher – CEO and Sean Hughes – Fleet Manager from Gallaghers, alongside John Vennard, the schools Head Teacher Caroline Barned, Head of 6th form and Lisa Alexander KS5 Careers Lead. John said afterwards how proud he was that the groups had worked so well to come up with inspirational ways to get this important message out to other young people. We'd like to extend our thanks to everyone involved in this event, especially Angela Willis – Careers Advisor.
