Just had an insightful session attending this webinar 'Why are there so few Black professors, and what can we do about it?'. The collaboration of participants on the panel from the Society of Black Academics (SBA), GatenbySanderson and the Higher Education Policy Institute made this event very enriching. It was enlightening to hear about lived experiences, practical strategies and also the need for more research to provide relevant tools for those of us seeking to advance our careers. On one level it is sad that there has to be this level of focus and support for black academics in order to move forward but with the reality of the struggle faced in advancing careers, this collaboration and the ensuing results could not be more welcomed and timely.
