A huge thanks to Mark and the WTW Investments team for their fantastic (tiring but rewarding) support on this site. 💚 Through volunteering with The Conservation Volunteers, green spaces are created, protected and improved, for wildlife and the community! #JoinInFeelGood www.tcv.org.uk #CSR #ESG #volunteering #communities #makeadifference #workplace #wellbeing #community #socialimpact
“It’s good to talk” (thanks Bob Hoskins)… His point was that we’re rewarded if we invest time going a layer deeper in our conversations; beyond the superficial. I find that happens more often when we’re face-to-face and I’ve been fortunate enough to see the benefits over the last few weeks during various WTW Investments events. Firstly during the #ReigateAlternativeOlympics where I enjoyed spending some quality time with a subset of our UK team (and rolled back the years with a highly competitive egg and spoon race!). Then during a tiring but rewarding stint of #volunteering with a subset of the European ExCo and The Conservation Volunteers at a community garden in North London. I learned that hemlock is highly poisonous (thanks Joe Bartram) and that Katie Boysen and Pieter Steyn are dab hands with a scythe! I’m looking forward to more of the same this week during our events in London today and Leeds tomorrow. Thanks to everyone who contributes to these special events 👏🏽 #itsgoodtotalk

Wonderful to be involved in this fantastic partnership with The Future Forest Company! ✅ Habitat Surveys and Monitoring ✅ Helping Rare Species Thrive ✅ Wildflower Planting for Pollinators ✅ Environmental Education "Volunteering is, and has always been, at the heart of TCV’s work and their goals can only be achieved through the engagement, commitment and expertise of their volunteers. Social, outdoor, physical volunteering in nature benefits the health, wellbeing, learning and skills of individuals, while improving the cohesion and resilience of communities and tackling the growing climate and ecological crises. By supporting different community groups in local areas TCV helps to bring like-minded people together to make a bigger impact on issues that matter to them." - Clare Johnstone, TCV Read the blog to find out more...
As we celebrate Scotland’s Climate Week, we’re excited to highlight the incredible contributions of one of our community partners, The Conservation Volunteers in supporting nature restoration at our Dumyat site in Scotland 🌼🦋 At The Future Forest Company, it’s imperative to us that our restoration work benefits local communities and that communities can enjoy access to our sites. We’re so grateful that TCV have collaborated on a range of projects with our team from wildflower planting, surveying and site maintenance to hay cutting and monitoring trail cameras. It’s always incredibly rewarding to collaborate with passionate groups like the Conservation Volunteers who are playing an important role in helping to restore nature while helping connect people to take local action to restore nature and drive climate action. Had a great day today volunteering with The Conservation Volunteers at Chorlton Water Park. We spent the day laying out a new path, tidying up the park and the nice weather was an added bonus! It was a good chance to catch up with fellow digital transformation graduates whilst also making a difference in the local community! Thanks to Amy Carr for organising. The Conservation Volunteers reposted this
As part of Lanarkshire Climate Action Festival we joined The Conservation Volunteers Scotland and the Seven Lochs Wetland Park project for a seed collection event in Glenboig. With clear instructions on how to collect the seeds and which ones that were ready to pick, participants got stuck in. Afterwards, people could either bring home the seeds they collected or donate them to the TCV to get more groups involved in creating wildflower meadows. Opportunities like these that give people the knowledge and understanding of how we can support local flora and fauna are invaluable to getting more people involved in climate action. I recently took part in a volunteering day with The Conservation Volunteers and the Visa Direct Europe team at Horsenden Hill in North West London. Thoroughly enjoyed the break from the 9-5, the physical exertion and giving back to those excellent humans really preserving London’s green spaces. Do you know what a dead-hedge is? It’s a man-made natural barrier constructed from all the cuttings of branches, saplings and foliage, to set boundaries to stop us humans trampling all over nature but it also creates a habitat for the woodland animals, bugs and insects to live. You’ll probably see them next time you’re out in nature. Shout out to the dead-hedge team Henry Highnam Andrew Tona Robert Prehn Mathew Van Benschoten Steve Davis Apurv Chaturvedi - Check out the short video.
