    What is one of the most underutilised and under used abilities we have as humans? Taking the time to reflect. One of the most common pieces of feedback from participants involved in our development programmes is how much they value taking the time out to think and reflect. Reflection is often something that is left to chance because it can be hard, especially when we’re all so busy and moving straight from one thing to the next. Organisations can unintentionally exacerbate the problem if the culture determines value by how busy people are. And when time for reflection isn't planned in, it can lead to dysfunctional patterns of speed and excess workloads where everyone is just ‘too busy.’ The irony is it makes everyone less productive and can negatively impact on engagement, well-being, turnover and retention.  We all have patterns of behaviour and things we are doing in organisations that do and don’t serve us. Patterns that if we just took the time to stop, questions and explore and step back and look we could think about what to intentionally build on, or do differently. Slowing down to reflect and examine can be uncomfortable and make us feel vulnerable. Yet if we don’t stop to reflect – to discover what assumptions we are making and explore them – we are faced with a choice. To stay as we are or choose to do things that help us rather than hinder us.     🚨 A Turning Point for Our NHS: A Call to Innovate and Invest 🚨 Lord Darzi’s latest investigation into the NHS is a wake-up call we can’t ignore. Whilst many will recognise and relate to the issues highlighted, the report lays bare the urgent need for change—from embracing cutting-edge technology to better supporting the incredible NHS staff, who work tirelessly under immense pressure. The future of healthcare isn’t just about treating illness; it’s also about prevention. There is a nod to using AI, digital tools, and smart technology in the report which is encouraging - Imagine a system where long waits and outdated processes are replaced by faster diagnoses, seamless care, and personalised health solutions—this is within reach if invested wisely and the right tools and education are provided. A key part of making this happen? It was good to see the highlighted needs of our Integrated Care Boards (ICBs). These are more than just local committees—they’re the teams who can ensure that everyone, no matter where they live, gets the right care at the right time. But they need clearer direction and the support to thrive. I think its also important on the release of this report to take a moment to recognise the NHS staff and those working more widely in the system, who are the backbone of our healthcare system. They give their all, day in and day out, despite overwhelming challenges. They deserve better, and that starts with real actions—not just promises, investing in their futures, giving them the tools, training, and technology to deliver the world-class care they’re known for. In an interview this morning on BBC, Wes Streeting says there will be three "big shifts": from hospital to community care from analogue to digital from treating sickness to preventing it The NHS belongs to all of us, I hope this report doesn't land on deaf ears and genuine solutions and support can evolve out of this, past the news focus of today.     We are delighted that Hedwige Nuyens has been appointed as new Chair of E3G, an independent climate change think thank, working on innovative solutions, building coalitions and producing insights. Hedwige currently serves as the CEO of the International Banking Federation, Chair of European Women on Boards and as a member of the G7 Gender Equality Advisory Council. She brings a wealth of expertise and experience to this role. Shane Tomlinson and Nick Mabey, the Co-CEOs of E3G, said: "As E3G has grown as an organisation we have deliberately expanded our Board of Directors to bring in new skills and expertise to help guide our strategic development.
