The Global Centre Of Rail Excellence is a world class facility for sustainable mobility, renewable energy and commercial property currently being developed in South Wales. It will provide unique-to-Europe research, testing and showcasing opportunities for rolling stock, infrastructure and cutting-edge new rail and mobility technologies. The new facility will be located on a 700-hectare site and offer significant renewable energy generation capacity. GCRE will be the UK’s first ever net zero in operation railway. GCRE will be critical in the testing of new products that can support decarbonisation and our transport path to net zero. The Global Centre Of Rail Excellence will be in attendance at hashtag #InnoTrans2024, taking place in Berlin this September. GCRE is very proud to be based on the Wales Pavilion, alongside our fantastic Trade & Invest Wales partners. The Wales Pavilion will be in Hall 23b, located on Stand 340. InnoTrans is taking place at the Messe Berlin from Tuesday 24th to Friday 27th September 2024. The Global Centre of Rail Excellence will be a facility for world class rail research, testing and innovation of rolling stock, infrastructure and cutting edge new rail technologies. Members of the GCRE team will be on the stand and available for commercial and technical discussions about the facility and its progress. The Global Centre Of Rail Excellence was delighted to host the Universal Signalling team Stephen Head and Sam Bemment for a site visit and survey last Friday. The team were beginning to plan their second system demonstrator to be installed later this year. GCRE will be a facility for world class rail and mobility research, testing and innovation and its great to see the creativity teams are already showing in how to make the most of it. #GCRE #GlobalCentreOfRailExcellence #RailInnovation

It's good to see early collaboration between the Welsh and UK Government on rail reform and tangible commitments to improve infrastructure and deliver better services for passengers.
