Fishing by the doughnut and an unsuspecting victim of a local flying sky pirate.   A couple of new Brighton (Hove)- centric, line illustrations on the theme of simple pleasures. These have recently been beautifully reinterpreted by sign writer Abbie Allen on the walls of Bayon Bakery #brighton #hove #branding #illustrations #brakerybranding #restaurantbranding

  • Our very own Steve Campion has recently featured in Creative Bloq waxing lyrical about typefaces AND somehow managing to include skateboarding in the conversation. One for the heads.

I recently made a contribution of not one, but TWO whole pieces of writing for for the Creative Bloq's ‘Type of the Decades ‘ series - For ‘The best typography of the 1980s, as chosen by design experts'. I wrote about 'Banco', the font used by Skateboard magazine ‘Thrasher’ and for a bit of contrast, for the 90’s article I opted to talk about 'Mrs Eaves' - something much more elegant and dainty. Here I am pictured here modelling a shady Thrasher bootleg t-shirt purchased from an undisclosed location in Brighton. Links to the articles are in the comments below.

New project case study: Bayon Bakery Bayon Bakery is a new bakery created by Amber Sterck and is her second concept after launching the very popular Oeuf Cafe in Hove. Located close to Hove Station, Bayon is a traditional bakery where everything is baked fresh on-site daily. It also offers a relaxed environment where guests can enjoy high-quality patisseries, loaded sandwiches, speciality doughnuts and delicious coffee made using their own, bespoke Bayon blend. Good Noise worked with Amber on the brand identity, lunch campaigns, illustration, print, packaging and signage 📸 Ellen Richardson Read the full case study - link in the comments below.

  • We spoke to Restaurants Brighton about our work on the recently opened Chasing Rabbits Coffee House in Hove. The article talks a bit about our process and the collaboration with the client. One thing that really jumps out is how much can be gained by starting to think about branding early in the project - in this case even before a site had been found. https://lnkd.in/eCsYNfS3

  • Simple Pleasures. Illustrations @bayonbakery We hosted a series of brand strategy workshops with Amber Sterck at Bayon, and established that the very essence of the Bayon brand was Simple Pleasures (done well). This led to a series of illustrations depicting everyday people enjoying simple pleasures - from walking the dog and going for a run to spending weekend time with the kids. These illustrations were used on postcards and promotional materials which Bayon distributed in the local area. Bayon Bakery opened its doors this week in Hove. #bakery #bakerybranding #illustration #brighton #hove #identitydesign #copywriting #brandstrategy #goodnoise

We really enjoy working on massive stuff or ‘large scale artwork’ as it’s sometimes referred to. For Chasing Rabbits we created 2 murals one externally and one internally that spanned across 2 floors. The designs were inspired by dreams of ‘Chasing Rabbits’ the phrase used to describe dogs wagging their tail whilst sleeping. Each mural is drawn up to scale, consistent with the brand look & feel using specific colour palette and then templates are made before the final designs are hand painted direct to the wall. Bermondsey Street in London- one of the best neighbourhoods to hang out for an afternoon of eating, drinking and people watching- is now home to a new restaurant. Lolo is a new all-day concept from award winning Spanish Chef Jose Manuel Pizarro Cerro which takes its name from a tongue in cheek reference to his middle name, Manuel.   The new restaurant, José’s third on the street, is nestled in the heart of Bermondsey right next door to ‘José’, the legendary tapas restaurant where the chef’s cooking first gained notoriety. Good Noise were invited to work with José and the team to develop the brand strategy and visual identity.   Check the full case study – https://lnkd.in/esQRnq73   Interior design: Pattern Haus Photography: Stevie Campbell

  • The brand personality and identity we established for Chasing Rabbits is fun, light hearted and unique. We strive to ensure the visual language remains consistent throughout the customer experience which includes successfully transferring the concept work into tangible branded applications across signage, print and digital.    Way finding signage not only helps people find where they need to go, but also helps to define a clear customer journey around the space, to help minimise congestion in certain areas. For the internal signage for Chasing Rabbits, we mapped out the space to define the areas where signage is needed.    Once we knew which signs are required and where they needed to go, we designed a bespoke set of icons in keeping with the personality of the brand. In some cases, we combined the icons with a bold friendly typeface. These concept designs were then presented to our client for approval before being finalised.     Once the designs were approved, we worked closely with the signage company to develop the materials and finish for the signage before handing over our final artwork and specification to them to make the physical signs.    The external signage core function is to increase brand visibility. As well as keeping the signage ‘on brand’; colour, lighting and scale are all important factors to consider as well as being sensitive to landlord requirements and advertising consent which needs to be granted by the local authorities.
