Co-founder & CEO at Voda | Building the future of inclusive mental health support 🏳️🌈

New launch alert! 🚀 Excited to share that today we’re launching "Coping with Hate Speech" on Voda: The LGBTQIA+ Mental Health App. 🌈 This launch means a lot to us. With anti-LGBTQIA+ hate - especially anti-trans rhetoric - on the rise, it's clearer than ever that virtual policies have real-world consequences. Meta’s recent policy changes have made it easier for harmful (and false) narratives to spread unchecked. We know that online hate doesn’t just stay online - it affects the mental health of those experiencing it, and it also induces people to physically hurt communities who are subjected to hate. On Voda we've seen huge spikes in users reporting hate speech, social media trolling and online harassment - as a consequence of online platforms giving carte blanche to hate speech. Developed by our Lead Therapist Chris Sheridan MBACP (Accred), FRSA, this new module is designed to help our communities learn to self-regulate when facing online harassment, and also support others who are experiencing hate. (Self-care meets communal care.) Please help us share this important module with anyone who may need it - friends, allies, LGBTQIA+ support networks, and community leaders! ✊🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ Available now on Voda! x #QueerTech #LGBTQIA #TransRights #MentalHealth #HateSpeech #InclusiveTech

Hardware Prototypes for Impact Startups | Design, Build, Test 🚀

What a fabulous Thursday! An afternoon of GoodTech Ventures Cohort 3 showcase pitches. An amazing, inspiring group of people giving their everything to solve the problems and challenges they have lived and experienced. If you think a founder should care about the problem they are solving, these are the people you want! The judges Louise Thomas Nick Spiller Chloe Coleman Roman Boretskiy took on the hard job of choosing the winner Cathy Long Aposto. I've no idea how they could choose only one out of everyone who pitched: Jaron Soh Lesley Sackey Dr Anna Vartapetiance Lisa F. Paul Massey Jeremy N Pitt CJ Tayeh Dr Miriam Silver Dr Inas Ismail Jack Duddy Followed by an evening with The Entrepreneurs Network at OakNorth. Interesting conversations with people who've already built their company and those still at the start of the journey. Thanks to Philip Salter and Peter King for the event!

Portfolio Manager at Social Tech Trust

This is why I do what I do at Social Tech Trust working with the GoodTech Ventures team to support people like Lesley Sackey who through their own lived experience are building solutions to support and protect others. I am amazed daily at the passion and dedication of founders I support who are striving to find solutions to some of society's most pressing challenges and are building sustainable businesses, not just for profit.

    Healthtech Founder | Impact Investor | WISE100 2022 Winner

Today I was reminded how amazing startup founders are. I met with Lesley Sackey, a British boxing champion, as part of my work with GoodTech Ventures. Lesley is building PILLOW out of her own experience with domestic violence. It's a one stop shop for survivors to get everything they need - and crucially not need to tell their story a million times and retraumatise themselves - to thrive. I'm super inspired by everything Lesley is trying to do - and you should be too! Long live impact venture.

  • Congratulations to our Cohort 3 GoodTech Ventures Winner ... Cathy Long, Founder of Aposto 🎉🍾👏 Aposto are on a mission to make major events safer and more enjoyable for everyone on site - managers, contractors, stewards and fans. Cathy Long was deeply affected by the Hillsborough Disaster and that’s where it all began. Cathy has been campaigning for safer grounds ever since. Her journey took her to working with the football authorities, including 15 years leading safety and fan experience at the Premier League. Aposto is the culmination of everything learned along the way; how to keep fans safe. "We built Aposto because we saw the problems of delivering safety briefings at venues and events. Training and briefing event workers is usually done verbally. It’s costly, time-intensive, outdated and error prone. Safety and fan experience are compromised; venue managers don’t know who to employ or promote, and safety certificates are at risk. Working with safety officers to develop the platform, we built other features they wanted; easy scheduling, training modules, and our live staff check in maps that show exactly who is on site. Aposto empowers organisations around the world, from football clubs to global event companies and everything in between." Photography: Caitlin Lock 📸 #GoodTechVentures #GoodTechPitch #GoodTechWinner

CEO Air Aware Labs - Personalising Air Quality, for everyone

Poacher to game keeper! After winning the GoodTech Ventures cohort 2 showcase, we were invited to judge the cohort 3 pitches, along with other recent winners. I thought it would be a nice relaxing afternoon thinking about someone else's company for a change - but, oh no! We had the task of picking a winner for the £10k prize from 11 amazing companies. With a three minute pitch per company and just one question from the judges afterwards, it was quick fire! I was also aware of the research about female founders being asked 'prevention' questions whereas men tend to be asked 'promotion' questions. So I was constantly checking myself to make sure my questions were fair. Congratulations to Cathy Long for winning and to CJ Tayeh and Jaron Soh for honourable mentions. But the full set gave us a run for our money in terms of deciding on these winners! And well done GoodTech Ventures Emma Williams David Hinton Candice Hampson Katherine Marcham for another fab event. And lovely to meet fellow judges Chloe Coleman Roman Boretskiy and Nick Spiller and share everything it takes to be an amazing impact venture! 🟢 Maxim VR - Reimagining mental health support with immersive VR for young people. 🟢 #Pillow - Empowering abuse survivors by providing essential resources and support. 🟢 Securium Ltd - Protecting individuals and businesses through advanced cyber-intelligence. 🟢 #LibraLaw - Delivering AI-driven legal assistance to bridge the justice gap. 🟢 Voda: The LGBTQIA+ Mental Health App - Providing LGBTQIA+ affirming mental health support. 🟢 Aposto - Improving event safety and security with innovative tech solutions. 🟢 https://lnkd.in/eDwN8Qkm. - Redefining mental health improvement through human connection and collective well-being. 🟢 Flank - Building AI-driven tools for conflict resolution and improved relationships. 🟢 BERRI - Helping children with complex needs improve mental health and neurodiversity outcomes. 🟢 #Socialheads - Streamlining tools for social workers to engage with young people in care. 🟢 Autsera - Enabling children to develop social communication skills independently, at their own pace.
