Through our Independence and Wellbeing team at Great Places, we deliver a range of supported housing, and fully support the National Housing Federation #SOSHousing Campaign. Supported housing saves the government up to £15,500 per person annually, but years of funding cuts mean providers are at breaking point and schemes are closing across the country. It was fantastic to work with Cafeology Limited and give residents in Wybourn, Sheffield, the chance to receive professional barista training. As part of our employability programme, Wybourn Works, through the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Learning and Work Institute’s ‘Jobs Plus’ pilot, our team found there was much interest among customers and residents in the world of coffee, and this training day was very well-received, inspiring some to take this further.
