Greyparrot is using AI waste analytics to unlock a new understanding of discarded resources called waste intelligence.

About us

Greyparrot [greyparrot.ai], the leader in AI waste analytics, is applying AI to globally scale recycling and save millions of tonnes of waste from landfills and incinerators. By providing deeper, more intelligent insights about waste stream composition and financial value, Greyparrot is helping the waste sector recover more value from waste processing lines and reduce the environmental impact of waste. The company’s waste intelligence platform, including Greyparrot Analyzer and Greyparrot Sync (API), reveals real-time insights on over 70 waste categories across seven layers of data, including financial value, brand, and GHG emissions, captured at multiple locations across a recycling facility. In 2023, Greyparrot analysed over 25 billion waste objects helping drive efficiency to save hundreds of thousands, to millions, of dollars per facility – while diverting millions of tonnes of waste away from landfills, oceans, and incinerators. Using Greyparrot insights, recycling professionals, plant builders, packaging producers, and FMCG brands can make decisions to help them increase recycling efficiency, comply with recycling regulations, and improve recyclable packaging design. Greyparrot is recognised as: - Global Cleantech 100 2024 - World Economic Forum “Tech Pioneer” 2021 - PWC “NetZero Future 50” 2022 - WIRED “Europe's 100 Hottest Startups” 2021 - CB Insights “Top 100 most promising AI company globally” 2021

  • How does Cheshire West Recycling extract the most valuable material from 170,000 households’ worth of mixed #recycling? 🤔 In our recent webinar, Operations Director Jody Sherratt explained how #AI helps facility staff develop a “production line mentality” — maximising productivity by making data-driven decisions about infeed blends, staffing, and more 💡 Watch the full webinar to hear more from Jody, along with experts from SUEZ UK and IPL Brightgreen 👇 https://lnkd.in/eGxsSusZ

  • What’s top of mind for America’s leading brands, #packaging producers and #recyclers in 2025? 🇺🇸 Our COO Gaspard Duthilleul shared his thoughts about this after speaking at last week’s #SustainabilityInPackagingUS conference 💡 Find out why the US packaging ecosystem is using #AI to forge links between packaging design, #recyclability and regulation in his recap of the event’s key themes 👇

COO at Greyparrot ♻️ AI-powered Waste Intelligence for the Circular Economy

It was great to be back in the Windy City at #SustainabilityinPackagingUS to talk about the challenges and innovations shaping the packaging and recycling value chain. It is clear that commitments to moving towards a circular economy remain very strong. The pressure to improve both the quality of recyclates and recovery rates has never been higher. It was a pleasure sharing the stage with Jeff Snyder, Joe Riconosciuto, and Clint Pugh to bring the viewpoint of waste and recycling operators to an audience of packaging producers, brands and policy makers. Thanks to Natalie Betts for guiding the conversation. 🔥 Key quotes and takeaways: ✅ Design for recyclability is crucial: if a packaging doesn’t fit into existing streams, it won’t get recycled. There’s huge diversity in the recycling landscape, with different collection laws, collection schemes, and sorting infrastructures. Involving the recycling sector early in the decision making process is essential to ensure the best results. ✅ Collaboration is key: brands, policymakers, and waste managers must align to drive real change. While there’s a clear need for further investment into the infrastructure, we also see pre-competitive collaboration as a way to create impact now by solving clear value chain challenges. Something Tara Fothergill from Pact Collective brilliantly illustrated. ✅ AI is transforming recycling: directly by enabling smarter sorting at MRF level, but also by unravelling opportunities to create new streams of recyclable material and unlocking entirely new insights into practical packaging sortability. It was great to hear Kelly Murosky, Unilever, explain how important it is to track both technical and practical recyclability and to identify where the differences between these two metrics come from. ✅ Consumers believe recycling helps the environment: 97% do globally, as presented by Suzanne Shelton (ERM Shelton) and 83% believe producers should have more responsibility for the end of life of their products. However, 23% are not confident that what they put in the recycling bin actually gets recycled. While this number is decreasing, there is more to do in terms of communication and education - something that fact-backed data can help with. 📢 “This is based on science not emotion, it’s driven by actions not words.” - well put by ♻️Jonathan Quinn♻️, US Plastic Pact: It resonates with Greyparrot’s goal to use real-world waste data at scale to inform more objective data-driven decisions. 📢 “Every state has a different recycling system. We need to know what the gaps, challenges, and opportunities are to understand where and how we can best invest to make an impact.” CJ Stolle, Amazon. Look forward to continuing the many conversations I had on how waste intelligence can contribute to a more efficient and sustainable waste value chain.
