We work with people and companies committed to responding sustainably to the current biodiversity and climate emergency
About us
Heal’s name is its mission: heal the land, heal nature, heal ourselves. Heal was set up in March 2022 to enable people and companies to do something tangible on the ground, in England, about ecological collapse and the climate emergency. When the UK Government called for the creation of half a million hectares of new wildlife-rich habitat, we saw an opportunity to create a not-for-profit which would act as a focus for raising money to buy land and give it back to nature. Aiming to create a rewilding site in every English county. We acquired our foundation rewilding site, Heal Somerset, in December 2022. Our current and future sites, are places where wildlife can thrive and people can reconnect with the natural world on which we all depend and improve their mental and physical health. By rewilding land, we are actively restoring soil fertility and managing the land in ways which will hold back floodwaters and stop top soils being lost. We are making use of the most powerful technology that exists on earth to reduce CO2 levels – plant photosynthesis. Involvement in rewilding through Heal is beneficial for companies in multiple ways: - Positive impact on brand and reputation - Good for employee acquisition, retention, engagement and mental health - Part of a sustainability strategy towards net zero carbon

What an amazing night! We are thrilled at the success of Friday night's sold-out premiere of our new film Heal The Land ❤️ It was thrilling to share the story of Heal Somerset's rewilding journey and hear the positive reactions from the audience. Our co-founder Jan Stannard was joined on stage by filmmakers Tom Francome and Hayley Smith, along with Heal's rewilding ranger Daniel Hill for a film Q&A. Our excellent panel of guest speakers followed, sharing their insights of the wildlife and progress of Heal Somerset. A huge thank you to Sara King from Rewilding Britain, Nick Patel from Wilder Skies and Alex Sams from Providence Ecological. Excited for more screenings to come, including an online screening with filmmaker Q&A on April 17 and a screening with expert panel at TCNUK in Bath on May 8. Great news! Beaver releases into the wild have finally been given the go ahead by Government after a 10-year wait 🙌 This is a HUGE win. Beavers are Britain's best ecosystem engineer and can transform our landscape sustainably, help prevent flash flooding and increase biodiversity. At Heal Somerset we are lucky to already host wild-living beavers as we're in one of only five river catchments in England where they currently exist. But now, the rest of the country will have the chance to host these transformative and charismatic native mammals. 🦫 #Rewilding #RewildingHope #Beavers #EcosystemEngineers #NatureRecovery https://lnkd.in/eXnms68e

On Friday, the Heal team said a heartfelt and poignant farewell to Ruby Batt, our brilliant comms officer, leaving us after two years of amazing work. 'Ruby Ruby Ruby' is a song we will miss singing! Ruby joined us as part of the New to Nature trainee scheme and we didn’t hesitate to keep her on after her training year, since when she has single-handedly put together our socials, kept the websites sorted, designed beautiful leaflets and posters, filmed loads of standout videos for us and made us laugh a lot while doing so. She came up with creative ideas and found fun ways to tell our story. The stamp of her talent will always be there in the roster of content she created for us and she is captured for posterity in our new film Heal the Land. Ruby, you have been a much-loved and valued colleague, and we could not be more proud that you are joining Rewilding Britain. Go well. You will fly xx

Guess what we found when we checked a camera trap at Heal Somerset earlier this week? Something we've never seen before...🎥 Not one but TWO of our native mammals were captured sharing a night-time moment on screen as a badger crossed the river using a fallen tree trunk as a bridge. It's quickly followed by one of the new arrivals who stops to nibble a branch in the water...how wonderful! We're busy monitoring the wildlife visitors and residents who are benefitting from the land returning to nature and will be sharing more soon. #Badger #NatureLovers #CameraTrap #MammalWatch #Beaver #Rewilding #NatureRecovery #TwoForThePriceOfOne
