The #EthnicityPayGap Campaign highlights that “Black […] and brown […] women could […] miss out on £105,000 to £350,000 of earnings across a working lifetime spanning an average of 35 years.” The ethnicity pay gap is the difference between the average (mean and median) hourly pay of ethnic minority and white British people. The #NHS Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Improvement Plan requires NHS organisations to develop and implement an improvement plan to eliminate ethnicity pay gaps by the end of this year. To help trusts meet this target, we are pleased to share our new guide: 'Counting the cost: Understanding your ethnicity pay gap'. The guide has been co-produced with the membership organisation NHS Providers and offers a unique perspective on the topic, combining their extensive knowledge of the provider sector with our legal expertise, as well as case studies from organisations who have begun to implement strategies and interventions to address their pay gaps. The guide includes: ▪️ Key learnings from Barts Health NHS Trust, Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, and Cambridgeshire County Council ▪️ The view from Dianne Greyson, founder of the #EthnicityPayGap Campaign ▪️ The legal framework and risks of inaction ▪️ How to understand your data, calculate your ethnicity pay gap and apply an intersectional lens ▪️ Strategies for minimising and closing the ethnicity pay gap ▪️ The role of the board in driving improvement 📄➡️ Read the guide here: https://bit.ly/3NyZuXW
