💚 HEY CU - Eco Hub 💚 Today we had the pleasure of welcoming businesses and academics to our brand new Eco Hub at Thwaite Gardens in Cottingham. We are going to be delivering engaging environmental sessions to primary school children - encouraging them to become ‘Eco Heroes’. The children will explore gardens, woodland and greenhouses, whilst learning about sustainability and their impact on the planet. If you would like to learn more about our Eco Hub and how your business could get involved, please contact Sarah Brodie s.brodie2@hull.ac.uk Thank you so much to University of Hull and the Friends of Thwaite Gardens for the use of your beautiful space. And a huge thank you to everyone that joined us this morning and shared our enthusiasm for this exciting new initiative. A charity raising aspirations of disadvantaged children in Hull and East Yorkshire with unique experiences.
About us
Charity number 1124329 Every child deserves a dream for the future. The circumstances that a child is born into shouldn’t affect their chance to reach their full potential. Currently 1 in 3 children in Hull are living in poverty and this number is set to rise due to the affects of the pandemic. These children may not have access to the opportunities that other children have and many will spend their entire childhood within a mile of their homes. We believe that all children should get to see beyond the end of their street and experience the world around them. We want to show children a world that allows them to dream. We inspire children to believe that they can achieve those dreams. We believe that every child is intelligent in different ways; they just need to opportunity to discover their hidden talents and ignite their aspirations for the future. We provide learning experiences for children who would otherwise never get a chance to take part in them. Whether it is a trip to London to have a sleepover under the dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum or if it is visiting a local business to learn about that industry, all of our children leave these experiences happy, excited and with new aspirations that they will hopefully carry with them into adulthood. We aim to put the fire into their bellies that will help them to succeed!

Foundations Live 2024 - Wow 🤩 “I’ve never seen any school class be as engaged and enthusiastic as these children have been today!” Y5 class teacher Yesterday we took y5 & 6 children from Chiltern Primary school to Foundations Live at Bishop Burton College all thanks to our bronze partner Hobson & Porter. The children were given a range of hands on activities to do, with guidance from staff and students. The children designed houses and spent time working out how much their construction would cost to build, they built brick wall pyramids and even got to visit the farm. They went around the various stalls and met so many inspiring people from the world of construction. Childrens aspirations are formed from a very early age. If they do not get exposed to different career options when they are younger it is much harder for them to keep an open mind when they are older. Foundations Live showed these children just how many opportunities there are in the construction industry. These children left the day feeling ACE (Aspirational, Confident & Engaged). Thank you so much to everyone at Hobson & Porter for another wonderful day!

Children from Thanet Primary School had an incredible day in London all thanks to our gold partners Sewell Group. The children had a jam packed day exploring the capital including visiting the Tower of London and going on a Thames river cruise. For some of these children it was their first time out of Hull and the impact the trip had on them was huge. The train home was filled with excitement, energy and enthusiasm for all the wonderful things they experienced. A special thank you to Jo Barnes, Rachel Smurthwaite and Bethany Dennett for volunteering in this trip on behalf of Sewell Group. The school made a point of not only reflecting on what a brilliant trip the children had, but also how fantastic it was that they were able to meet such inspiring role models. Thank you Sewell Group for making this possible 😊

Thank you to SOWDEN & SOWDEN for bringing our vision to life. We were blown away with the final product and could see how much work had been put into it. If you are holding an event and would like to raise funds for our charity, why not have the Superstar Plinko as a fun way to fundraise!
We're proud to have partnered with Hull & East Yorkshire Children's University to create a custom Plinko style game for their Time to Shine charity ball, which helped raise over £11,000. 🎯 The bespoke design was crafted entirely in-house by our talented team, delivering both an interactive experience and a sustainable solution for future fundraising events. Rose James, CEO of HEY Children’s University, shared: “Sowdens were the first people to come to mind, they listened to our vision and went above and beyond to bring it to life. Our expectations were high, but this exceeded them.” Projects like this showcase our commitment to creativity, quality, and long-term value. A big thank you to HEY Children’s University for trusting us to bring their vision to life! Want to know how it all came together?
