📣 We are delighted to announce that Dorset Nightstop, run by Action for Children, has been named as the Homelessness Partnership BCP’s Hero of the Month for September. 🏠 The charity, which provides safe emergency accommodation for people aged 18-25 in BCP and Dorset, has been recognised for its outstanding work in preventing young people in crisis from falling into homelessness. 🙏 With the service facing rising demand, Dorset Nightstop has issued an urgent appeal for new volunteer hosts in the BCP area who can briefly house young people at risk of homelessness. 💫 What a wonderful opportunity for our local charity, Creative Kids based in Bournemouth, to be part of this incredible exhibition. 🎨 And for the budding artists to actually meet Prince William! This breathtaking #HomelessnessReframed exhibition at Saatchi Gallery is only open for a short time so make sure you take the opportunity to visit. #endhomelessness #homewards
Yesterday, Prince William visited the #HomelessnessReframed exhibition at Saatchi Gallery to meet with artists and the people featured or who inspired the artwork created for the exhibition. This included renowned photographer Rankin, graffiti artist Opake, and artist Sam D'Cruze and her muse and friend Sasha. The Prince also met children from Creative Kids, a charity in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, who took part in one of the Homelessness: Reframed workshops to create the Open Doors section of the exhibition. Created by #Homewards, Saatchi Gallery and Eleven Eleven Foundation, Homelessness: Reframed brings to life the breadth and complexities of homelessness and aims to help the public to engage with, and better understand, the stories of those who have experienced the issue and inspire optimism that it can be ended. If you get an opportunity to visit this free exhibition it really will leave you in awe. We are so fortunate to be a part of the exhibition and what it represents. Our partners in the Homelessness Partnership are passionate to reframe homelessness and eradicate misconceptions of what homelessness is; so then everyone is empowered to make the change and end homelessness.
As part of Homelessness: Reframed, the ground-breaking new exhibition created in partnership with our Homewards programme, Saatchi Gallery and Eleven Eleven Foundation, we have created a brand-new content series that brings to life the stories behind some of the artwork in the exhibition. The aim of the series is to bring to life the breadth and complexities of homelessness, as well as share the artwork and its meaning with as many people as possible. The three-part series features artists David Tovey, Opake, Robi Walters, Sam D’Cruze and her friend and muse, Sasha. In each episode, the artists share the inspiration behind their art, and discuss their own experiences of homelessness. Reflecting the aims of the new exhibition, they discuss their hope that the artwork can encourage better understanding around what it means to not have a safe and stable home, the role of creativity in helping people to recover from homelessness, and the inspiration behind the artworks they have created.
