We had some very special little helpers on-site to help us plant 150,000 trees! 🌳✨ Students from Whitemoor Primary Academy joined us at Cornwall last week to help us create a new forest on land that was once a China clay pit!🌲🌲🌲 With over 150,000 trees planted this winter, this initiative is breathing new life into the landscape—supporting biodiversity and future generations.   "It's our responsibility to return the land to the condition it would have been in pre-mining,” said Mark Hewson. FCILT, who leads Imerys in the UK. The children also got a wildlife lesson from ecologist Bob Bosisto, who shared insights on rare species like dormice already calling this site home. Showcasing #Cornwall’s Lithium Future at the Gunheath Discovery Centre Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming visitors from Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, Department for Business and Trade, the Environment Agency, and Cornwall Council’s planning team to our #lithium project in mid-Cornwall. Our guests were the first to step inside the Gunheath Discovery Centre—our brand-new space overlooking Gunheath pit, where we can showcase our project, host discussions, and shelter from the unpredictable Cornish weather! We also toured our pilot plant, which has been producing battery-grade #lithiumcarbonate on a small scale for nearly three years. It was a great opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions about the future of lithium production in the UK. Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a site visit for members of the Royal Geological Society, along with local professor Frances Wall of University of Exeter. Our own head of geology Peter gleeson delivered a presentation to the very well informed group about our lithium deposit. Head of process at the lithium plant Ben Cordier then explained how we produce battery-grade #lithiumcarbonate from #Cornish #granite. Thanks to the group for their enthusiasm for our project!

Gool Peran Lowen! Or happy St Piran's Day from us here in Cornwall at Imerys UK head offices in Par! We celebrated the day with Cornish music, saffrons buns, Cornish fairings and our Imerys colleagues. We hope everyone across Kernow is enjoying the sunshine on our patron saint's day!

Last week we hosted an inspiring group of young people who were taking part in a STEM bootcamp during half term. Their week included a visit to our #lithium pilot plant, where they learned about our processing techniques and how that linked to the work they had been doing back at Truro and Penwith College in Bodmin all week.
