About us
We are Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, one of the largest NHS trusts in England. Our more than 15,000 staff provide acute and specialist care for over 1.3 million patients a year from our five hospitals in west London – St Mary’s, Hammersmith, Charing Cross, Queen Charlotte’s & Chelsea and Western Eye. We also offer private healthcare in dedicated facilities on all our sites. We live by our values of being kind, expert, collaborative and aspirational and as well as our vision of better health, for life. Around 55,500 women and 370 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year. Shirlee Rufo, our team lead for Theatres Recovery, shares her experience this #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. “In 2021, I discovered a lump on my chest, which prompted me to consult my GP. This consultation led to a referral to the breast clinic for diagnostic tests, including a biopsy and mammogram. The results confirmed that I had breast cancer. “Throughout my journey, my colleagues and friends offered unwavering support — whether through phone calls to check on me, offers to accompany me to treatments, or gestures of kindness such as flowers, gifts, and cards." We're so pleased your colleagues were able to support you on your journey Shirlee and we're all very happy to have you back at work 💙 Remember to regularly check your breasts and/or pecs and seek help if something doesn’t feel right ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eDc9fsXb #BreastCancer #CheckYourChest #CheckYourPecs

📣 A new AI model can predict patients’ risk of developing and worsening disease, and even their risk of early death, using an ECG ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eKpUrcfY The Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and Imperial College London research team say the AI model can detect subtle detail and ‘spot’ signs of disease earlier, allowing doctors to treat patients earlier. Trials of the technology at Imperial College Healthcare and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are already planned for 2025. Dr Arunashis Sau, who led the research, explained: “ECGs capture a great deal of information from around the body because diseases such as diabetes, that affect organs like the kidneys or liver, will also affect the heart in some way. Our analysis shows that the AI can tell us a lot about not only the heart but also what is going on elsewhere in the body and may be able to detect accelerated aging.” NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research) NIHR Imperial Biomedical Research Centre #Research #ArtificialIntelligence #ClinicalTrials
