Markus Dirnbacher, Senior Operations Manager at Innova, has joined Adam Sroka on Hypercube Consulting's latest podcast to discuss all things AI in the renewable energy industry. Tune in below to learn more about how Innova is using AI for practical, scalable solutions, why it's essential that the sector takes step-by-step approach to integrating AI, and more. #ai #hypercube #innova #thesmartfutureofgreenenergy
AI in renewables: start with the right questions. 🚀 Too often, AI is approached as “We have data, let's throw AI at it and see what happens." But as Markus Dirnbacher, Senior Operations Manager at Innova points out, that approach just won’t work. You need a very good idea of what you actually want AI to do before you start.💡 In this episode of the Hypercube Podcast, Markus shares: ✅ How Innova is using AI for practical, scalable solutions - from automating data validation to streamlining admin-heavy tasks. ✅ Why a step-by-step approach is crucial for AI adoption in the energy sector. ✅ The challenges of managing gigawatt-scale renewable energy sites and where AI can make a real impact. Innova has received planning approval for the second largest energy storage project in the UK. Almholme Energy Hub, comprising 1025MW/2050MWh energy storage and 49.9MW solar capacity, was granted planning consent by Doncaster Council, and will generate enough energy to power over 15,000 homes annually and store energy for 37,000 homes for a week. The site will also deliver significant BNG whilst supporting local initiatives via Innova’s Community Benefit Fund. As noted by Rob Parish, Senior Project Manager at Innova, Almholme Energy Hub will “help the UK achieve its clean energy goals, accelerating the transition to renewable power and ensuring a more resilient, sustainable, and affordable energy system for generations to come.” To find out more, read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/ekjazbJi #Innova #energystorage #solar #thesmartfutureofgreenenergy

Connecting renewable projects to the grid is often a technical and administrative labyrinth, with long wait times for connection approval and the deadline of clean power by 2030 fast approaching - time is of the essence. Today we explore the challenges of integrating projects, from local distribution networks to large-scale transmission systems, and highlight the pivotal role of reforms and collaboration in ensuring the UK meets its energy goals. Catherine Cleary, Specialist Connections Engineer at Roadnight Taylor | Certified B Corp™ and Joe Colebrook Head of Grid Connections at Innova join Ed Porter for today’s episode. Over the course of the conversation, they discuss: ▶︎ The grid connection process from both a commercial and an engineering perspective. ▶︎ Exploration of different approaches between transmission and distribution networks. ▶︎ What an ideal outcome for connections reform might look like. ▶︎ An introduction to the ‘connection pots’ concept in the Clean Power 2030 plan. ▶︎ Exemptions, long-term planning and an exploration of the process for amending existing connection agreements. You can listen to this episode - and every previous episode of Transmission - on your favourite podcast app, and on the Modo terminal.
