Innovation to Impact (i2i) is a global partnership which aims to fight vector-borne diseases by transforming the process for developing and delivering life-saving vector control products to tackle malaria and neglected tropical diseases. Our mission is to promote innovation, efficiency and quality in vector control product development. We do this by working together with all the stakeholders involved in developing and bringing new vector control tools to market, identifying the shared obstacles and catalyzing solutions. Our vision is a product development environment conducive to innovation and investment which efficiently delivers a steady stream of new, quality vector control tools to those who need them most, then safeguards their continued effectiveness. We are funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

I2I is excited to announce the launch of the Vector Control Professional Placement Programme, with the first placement applications for Vector Product Development Associate with Vestergaard and Envu now open for applications on the I2I website. The Vector Control Professional Placement Programme, an initiative of Innovation to Impact and funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, will place researchers from African research institutes with developers of vector control tools to build skills and knowledge in all aspects of product development. Successful applicants will be integrated into product development teams where they will gain first-hand product development experience and training in areas such as R&D best practices, business planning and product lifecycle management. In addition to training, researchers will receive personal development and mentorship opportunities to build their project management and product development skillset. All placements are fully funded, 12-month secondments, allowing researchers to return to their home institute to support knowledge transfer. To enable informed decision making, and correct use and effective monitoring of these new tools, it is critical to validate and disseminate appropriate methods. Join I2I at MIM Conference 2024 #MIM2024 as we host a symposium around improving the generation of high-quality data.

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Methods Landscaping project on the I2I website. The I2I Methods Landscape is an ongoing project to review and document the current methods used to develop and assess tools across the vector control landscape. As a living document and open resource, the Methods Landscape aims to provide clear documentation on the range of vector control development and assessment methods and up-to-date SOPs for each method. I2I envisage that the Methods Landscape will serve as a decision-making tool for researchers and product manufacturers in selecting appropriate methods, and a means to prioritise investment in method development and validation by stakeholders.
