We’re mid-way through National Care Leavers Week #NCLW. The care experienced community was up in lights last night! We’re very grateful to organisations across the country which joined the Light Up on Wednesday evening, bringing greater awareness to care leavers. You can see two of them – the Arkwright Building at Nottingham Trent University and St George’s Hall in Liverpool City Council in this post. Tonight, it’s the turn of Channel 4 to Light Up at its London Headquarters. The broadcaster is continuing to screen special on screen idents in support of National Care Leavers Week today. Last night we staged our latest Careers Forum with G4S. The Zoom room was again at maximum capacity. As one attended said: “The company – G4S, seem really supportive,”. Whilst another remarked: “The different aspects of security are really interesting”. Two young people have already submitted an Expression of Interest form for a career with G4S and we expect more to follow. Every care leaver received a Just Eat voucher, sponsored by G4S, to thank them for attending. Two sessions follow tonight: Careers in Retail with Superdrug and Savers Health Home & Beauty and Careers in Finance with Metrobank. Both sessions are fully booked again! We started the week with a series of interviews across national and local broadcast media. Here’s Angelina Allen, a Business Administration Apprentice at GMi Construction, on BBC Radio Newcastle with #AnnaFoster (BBC Sounds 22 minutes in): https://lnkd.in/ecWG8Q_5 #NCLW #nationalcareleaversweek #careleavers Department for Education Local Government Association
