Passengers for Inverness airport will be able to test out some rather futuristic transport to help connect the railway station and the airport terminal building this week. The Auto-Pod is one of two autonomous vehicles being tested in Inverness, as part of a project to assess the feasibility of bringing an on-demand, low-cost connected and autonomous vehicle (CAV) service to the region. This project is funded by Innovate UK and the UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) and is a collaboration between the University of Glasgow, the Highlands and Islands Transport Partnership (HITRANS), Aurrigo International plc, Stagecoach North Scotland, and Darwin Innovation Group Ltd.
