Thank you for sharing Royal Academy of Engineering⚙️ We’re proud to have played a key role in this collaborative effort, and a special thanks to IOM3 CEO Dr Colin Church and IOM3 Head of Policy Rachel Stonehouse. Colin says, 'In our report, we call for an overall material strategy; and one of the sets of tools that we've identified as being key to managing materials more sustainability, is design considered material use. This means we are designing infrastructure and designing products, designing them to contain less material so that we need less new material to get the same level of service. We also must make sure we have skills in the education system, skills for engineers, skills for designers, making sure that people can understand what these critical materials are, and worry about the critical materials, how they're going in, how they're coming out.' Together, we can strengthen supply chains and protect our environment. Let’s continue to advocate for sustainable materials and innovative solutions. 📌 https://lnkd.in/eR_TBcky #EngineeringAGreenerFuture #IOM3Policy
Reduce demand and recycle #CriticalMaterials like lithium, say top engineers A new National Engineering Policy Centre report published today calls for increased resource efficiency and demand reduction if the UK is to meet #NetZero strategy goals: https://lnkd.in/eugdpShY The report, published by the NEPC with key involvement from IOM3 (Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining) and the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE), examines the UK's relationship to critical materials and considers policymaking interventions to reduce the associated risks of supply chain crises and environmental damage. #EngineeringAGreenerFuture

This year's #WorldMentalHealthDay we are focusing on mental health in the workplace. 🎗 As a society we have gone through enormous changes in the last few years that have affected how we show up, and addressing mental health concerns in the workplace is more important than ever. According to statistics from the Mental Health Foundation, poor mental health is now the most common cause of work-limiting conditions among those aged 44 years and younger. If you're an early career researcher, or a professional in any industry at all, it's important to check in with yourself to maintain positive mental health and wellbeing. 👥 Read more about how you can support your colleagues and yourself: https://bit.ly/3Y3cnhK
