About us

The Ivors Academy is the UK’s not-for-profit professional association for songwriters and composers. We empower our members, champion their rights and value, celebrate the highest achievements and foster a supportive community. The Ivors Academy is known internationally presenting Ivor Novello Awards at The Ivors and The Ivors Classical Awards. An Ivor is the pinnacle in the career of many songwriters and composers, judged by acclaimed music creators from the Academy. This peer recognition makes the awards so special and respected.    As champions of all songwriters and composers, the support and recognition we provide extends far beyond our awards. We exist to promote creativity by nurturing talent, defending their rights, enabling writers to have successful careers, and demanding a fair, just and equitable music industry. We do this through education, campaigns, mentoring and bringing the community together. Membership is open to all songwriters and composers in the UK and Ireland. Join our community and become a member.

Black Lives in Music (BLiM) has launched its Anti-Racism Code of Conduct during WOMEX in Manchester, aiming to be the definitive framework for dismantling racial discrimination in the UK music industry.   Endorsed by CIISA and developed from BLiM's Being Black in the Music Industry survey, the code includes commitments on transparency, education, and reporting, with EquiTrack, a digital tool supporting these efforts, set to launch later this year.

AI is transforming industries across the economy, including music. However, many songwriters and composers are increasingly concerned that their works are being used without their consent, compensation, or credit to generate AI-driven content that directly competes with their own music. We encourage all members to sign the Statement on AI Training, which has already been supported by 13,500 creators, including authors, musicians, actors, artists, photographers and many composers and songwriters from our community. You can sign the statement here 👇 https://lnkd.in/dREw7M_N To learn more about our campaigns, our collaborations with partners across the creative and music industries, and our efforts to influence government policy and represent the voices of songwriters and composers, please visit our website. Become a member of The Ivors Academy today to help us champion, empower and protect songwriters and composers. If you’re not a writer, become a friend of the Academy and support our mission.

MEET THE CO-WRITER OF SABRINA CARPENTER'S ALBUM 'SHORT N' SWEET' Amy Allen is an acclaimed American songwriter, record producer and singer, known for her collaborations with top-tier artists such as Sabrina Carpenter, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber, Tate McRae, Halsey, Rosé and Shawn Mendes. Currently, she holds the number-one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Songwriters chart, with 13 songwriting credits on the Billboard Hot 100, including all twelve tracks from Sabrina Carpenter's album Short n' Sweet, which she co-wrote.
