About us
JBA Bentley is a joint venture between the environmental and water engineering consultancy Jeremy Benn Associates Consulting (JBA) and the civil engineering contractor JN Bentley. Having been awarded a place on the Environment Agency’s Water and Environmental Management (WEM) Framework, JBA Bentley’s work is focused on the flood risk management sector, harnessing the expertise and skills from its two parent companies. The framework covers a range of environmental work, flood modelling and mapping, flood risk emergency planning, feasibility, detailed design and construction. The contract has seen JBA Bentley work across a wide geographical area – from Wales to Cumbria to the east coast of England – on a variety of different design, design-and-construction and construction-only schemes. JBA Bentley’s place on WEM will run until June 2017, with an option of a further 2 years. JBA Bentley itself doesn't employ anyone - the company draws on the expertise and resources of its two parent companies, JN Bentley and JBA Consulting. Did you spot our work on the Don Regulators featured in the latest edition of the Environment Agency's Current Magazine? 👀💧📰 We used a unique temporary syphon solution to help secure enhanced flood protection for communities in South Yorkshire, whilst delivering significant carbon, cost and time savings. Forming part of the Don Regulators project, the innovative solution allowed the site team to create a dry working area to support the installation of a new fish pass on the River Rother. JBA Bentley joins those reflecting on Remembrance Day to honour and remember those who have served and sacrificed for our nation. Remembrance Day is important for so many, especially our colleagues who have joined us from the military, those who serve in the Reserves and as adult Cadet Instructors, as well as those colleagues with friends and family who served or are serving. We value the diversity of skills that ex-military bring to our workforce, and we strive to provide opportunities for those resettling after service to successfully transition back into a career. #RemembranceDay2024

🚧 Project Spotlight: The Meadowgate Project at Rother Valley County Park 🚧 We're excited to share the details of our recent work on the Meadowgate Project, where we partnered with JN Bentley to deliver a cutting-edge solution for the Environment Agency (EA). This project addressed the critical need to enhance the resilience of the fish belly gate, a vital structure in the park that was previously reliant on a single hydraulic ram. 🔧 The Challenge: The existing gate system posed significant risks due to its lack of redundancy. A failure in the single hydraulic ram would have rendered the entire structure inoperable, putting the park at risk. 💡 Our Innovative Solution: We implemented a vertical sluice gate upstream of the existing structure, integrating a robust rack and pinion drive system. This design allowed us to place a motor and gearbox on either side of the gate, each capable of operating independently—ensuring that the gate remains fully functional even if one motor fails. 🏗 Key Achievements: Enhanced Resilience: The rack and pinion system boosts the gate's reliability and ensures continuous operation. Structural Preservation: The new design preserved the old system while meeting the EA's requirements for resilience. Comprehensive Delivery: Our team handled the full Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) scope, ensuring seamless integration with the new motor control center. 🌍 Why It Matters: The Meadowgate Project stands as a testament to innovative engineering, structural preservation, and sustainable project delivery. 🔗 Curious to learn more? Dive into the full case study on our website to see how we delivered a resilient and future-proof solution for Rother Valley County Park! https://lnkd.in/ehfRM__p #Engineering #Infrastructure #Resilience #Sustainability #ProjectManagement #Innovation
