  • Take a look at the view from the top of our Arnold Road project for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets! Works are well underway in this corner of Bow where we are delivering a mixed-use scheme of 62 new homes and 5 commercial units. The concrete frames have been built and we have now commenced brickwork. We have also begun adding the SFS sheathing board. Windows are now being installed and these should all be in place within the next two months. Party walls are in place and screeding has commenced! soon there will be a smooth surface, ready for flooring materials. Once the screed has dried we will install the internal walls within the flats. Then the mechanical and electrical installations will be able to commence. By way of aesthetics, the ground floor colonnade will feature pink re-cast concrete blocks. These are in place and soon will be mirrored by pink blocks which will be installed on the roof parapets. The roof membrane is now dry, waterproofing the building. • Our Roxwell Road project for Be First Regeneration Limited continues to storm ahead. In the coming weeks we will be handing over the first flats in Block A. The electrical heads are now installed and live to blocks A and B and internal painting is taking place in the flats. The brickwork to Blocks A, B and C is now complete and Blocks D and E are not far behind. In Blocks A and B, the scaffolding at the back of the building has come down and that on the front elevation will be dismantled over the next month. Internal works are going at pace and include painting, mechanical and electrical works, flooring, tiling, carpentry and second fix items. In Block C we are continuing drylining, M&E First Fix and screeding soon we will be dismantling the scaffolding. The finished scheme will have 87 new homes, including 80 flats across four blocks and seven townhouses. The full development will be completed in March 2026. This is a fantastic project and Jerram Falkus are delighted to continue to be a part of the development of this corner of Barking. • We have been making steady progress at our Regent Street project for the University of Westminster where many of those roofs are complete. The project is highly complex and, as is common with historic buildings, has thrown us some surprises – such as a hidden fireplace! Over the coming months we will be undertaking essential additional structural repairs to the rear external façade. This will involve a lot of exposing brickwork and steelwork. We also need to rip out two fire escape stairways as in their current state, and even with minor repairs, they would not comply with today’s rigorous health and safety regulations. The work to replace these staircases will allow our team to continue work safely as well as ensuring effective and compliant escape routes in the years to come. As the work progresses some of the scaffolding is coming down allowing this splendid building to once again, be seen and admired by the many people who traverse Regent Street. I am so proud to have input into this great initiative for Jerram Falkus Construction Limited and long may it continue to change the way we recruit and employ within construction.

JJerram Falkus Construction Limited are delighted to announce that we have retained our Disability Confident Leader status! Disability Confidence enables us to recruit, retain and develop disabled people. The badge also shows our disabled colleagues that we recognise the value they bring to our business. Being a Disability Confident Leader means that not only do we actively recruit and retain disabled people, we actively encourage other employers and organisations to do the same. Currently, we are delivering 62 new homes and 5 new commercial spaces for the London Borough of Tower Hamlets on a central and very constrained site at Arnold Road in Bow, East London. We have a long history of delivering projects in and for East London and we are fully invested in the wellbeing of all its diverse communities. To that end, we have been working with the Tower Project (https://ow.ly/Bj0g50V6WI3). The Tower Project is a community based voluntary sector organisation which provides exemplary services and community engagement. It delivers a range of services for disabled children, young people and adults in East London. We have employed two clients of theirs at our Arnold Road project as well as hosting four work experience placements and a site visit. They also recently hosted a training session for those working with those with disabilities to which we were invited. The training was amazing, and it has really helped us as a disability employer to gain further confidence and experience in employing and working with staff with disabilities. Elsewhere in East London at Wanstead we hosted eight young people here, all with special needs, to do some gardening. It was a rather soggy day but at least the plants didn’t need extra watering! The youngsters were with their carers/tutors from New City College in Redbridge. They will be there for one day a week over the next 6 weeks, as part of their career development PHSE subject. Jerram Falkus have supplied the tools and equipment for them to undertake their education. Finally, we are also employing another client of the Tower Project at our Roxwell Road site in Barking! Three days - three pathways of career education. Yesterday I was delivering a bricklaying activity to Year 2’s, introducing them to the world of work, collaborating with Inspire Education Business Partnership. Today I’m at the amazing London Design and Engineering UTC student careers fair with very eager Year 9’s to 13’s all looking forward to their next career steps. Tomorrow I’m at a school in London Borough of Tower Hamlets helping students from Year’s 9 to 11 decide what their subject options are for further college education. #schoolengagement #socialvalue #supportingthecommunity #futurecareers #jerramfalkus

  • Our Wanstead High School & Leisure Centre project is taking shape! For more on the project check out https://ow.ly/NXkL50V6Z1v The new classroom block is really starting to take shape! Brickwork has commenced, giving a flavour of the aesthetic of the completed building. This will continue at pace while other works take place. The steel framing system (SFS) has also started which shows the footprint of individual classrooms, the canteen, kitchen and corridors. The image below shows the first-floor corridor which, whilst empty now will be a hive of activity when the school building is complete and occupied. As the SFS moves along, work has also begun on the internal walls so the rooms are taking their shape. Elsewhere on the site, the last of the piling is due to be installed in the next week. The site is sloped which brings its own challenges in terms of excess water. Extra attention has been given to ensuring adequate drainage and appropriate engineering solutions. The swimming pool is now largely complete and soon will be covered by a steel frame. It’s exciting to see the progress on this multi-faceted and complex site – well done team! • Last month, we were delighted to host Nesil Caliskan, MP for Barking on our Roxwell Road site. Last week some of our colleagues were treated to a tour of the Houses of Parliament. The tour was attended by Managing Director, Jonathan Jerram; Pre-Construction Director, Simon Birnie; Assistant Site Manager, Ciaran Kelly and Banksman, Charlotte Craven. Nesil sits on the Housing select committee. She met Alison at a prior event and learned that Alison works in construction and as such wanted to come along and see one of our sites in Barking & Dagenham. The tour took in the historic spaces at the heart of our country’s political life. As well as giving vast amounts of knowledge of the building and its corridors, Nesil and her assistant also gave the group the opportunity to listen in on some of the debates in the House of Lords. Our team had a fabulous time seeing the ceremonial and democratic processes in action. #ConstructionIndustry #HousesOfParliament
