The Royal Borough of Greenwich is making a significant investment of £430 million in capital repairs, and Mulalley is honoured to play a part in a vital five-year plan that allocates £25 million for kitchen and bathroom renovations. Amber Perrier, Mulalley's Assistant Social Value Manager, recently attended Islington’s ‘Meet the Employers’ event at Euston Skill Centre as part of their “Working Week Event”. The session was an opportunity for employers to meet students and residents to raise awareness about potential careers, training opportunities and share information on the skills needed in the construction sector. Mulalley is currently working on Park View Estate and Elthorne Estate on behalf of Islington Council delivering much needed affordable rent and shared ownership homes including associated Public Realm works, with this event forming part of our wider Social Value Offer. Mulalley is proud to announce the completion of Brookes Court, a challenging yet rewarding SHDF contract for the London Borough of Camden. Awarded after a competitive tender, this project involved significant energy efficiency upgrades to both blocks and bungalow properties in a central London location. Navigating the complexities of working in such a densely populated area, we adopted a phased approach to manage deliveries, waste removal, and material movement, while closely coordinating with local authorities and suppliers. Our strong partnership with Camden and the design team facilitated swift implementation of necessary design changes, drawing on our expertise in EWI, window installations, roof renewals, and asbestos removal. Early and ongoing engagement with residents through our award-winning Resident Liaison team was crucial in addressing concerns and minimizing disruption to the community. This proactive communication contributed to the project's success and helped Mulalley achieve PAS 2030 accreditation, underscoring our commitment to high-quality energy efficiency improvements. Our social value initiatives also created employment opportunities and work experience for local students. We continue to collaborate on Wave 2 projects and pursue Wave 3 bid with various clients. Congratulations to Martin Walker, our Operations Director, for becoming one of only six construction professionals to complete The Chartered Institute of Building's Principal Contractor Competency Scheme. This scheme provides a formal pathway to demonstrating competency as a Principal Contractor, as required by the Building Safety Regulator (BSR). The Principal Contractor role is one of several developed during the regulatory transformation introduced by the BSR, with duty holders required to possess the necessary skills, knowledge, experience, and behaviours to meet the competency standards outlined in PAS 8672:2022. Bruce Benson MRICS MCIOB CIHM, Construction Division Managing Director, said: "Congratulations to Martin for his dedication in achieving this accreditation. Mastering the responsibilities of a Principal Contractor Duty Holder is vital in light of the Building Safety Act. At Mulalley, we are committed to continuously enhancing the skills and competency of our staff, and this accomplishment underscores our pledge to employ the very best in the industry."

Mulalley worked in close partnership with the London Fire Brigade (LFB) to ensure that our site setup at the Bourne Estate, on behalf of the London Borough of Camden, was fully compliant with all access and safety requirements. From the outset, our team adopted a proactive approach, engaging regularly with the LFB and other key stakeholders to ensure that emergency access routes were always clear and in line with statutory regulations. This collaborative effort reflects our commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards on all of our projects. Regular reviews of the site setup, conducted alongside statutory authorities, allowed us to identify and address potential issues early on, ensuring smooth operations throughout the construction period. Thanks to the diligence and foresight of the Mulalley team, the London Fire Brigade was able to access a fire in one of the estate’s residential blocks through our compound, avoiding time-sensitive diversions. This facilitated a faster and more effective emergency response, minimizing disruption to the community and underscoring the importance of thorough planning in safeguarding public safety. World Suicide Prevention Day 10th September 2024 Every year on 10 September, organisations and communities around the world come together to raise awareness about how they can work together to create a world where fewer people die by suicide. World Suicide Prevention Day is a chance for us all to come together, raise awareness, and take meaningful steps towards preventing suicide and supporting those who may be struggling to cope. Sometimes the hardest words to say are the most important. This World Suicide Prevention Day, want to show everyone that talking about difficult feelings, including suicidal thoughts, doesn’t have to be scary. A recent poll found that only 45% of people feel comfortable talking to family and friends about suicidal thoughts, compared to 74% who said they feel comfortable talking about mental health. This needs to change. By talking more openly about suicide, we can give people the chance to express how they feel and get the support they need. It could even save a life. Mulalley is promoting awareness of this through various means including the below: Zero Suicide Alliance is an organisation which aims to empower, educate, and equip individuals and organisations to support suicide awareness and prevention. They are offering a short online Suicide Awareness Training course, to gain the skills and confidence to help someone who may be considering suicide and is recommended for anyone aged 16 and over. You can find the course via the link here https://lnkd.in/dC3CNSxi

Mulalley is delighted to share our Lewisham Council Social Value Report for April 2023 to April 2024. Social Value is at the heart of our business, we are proud that all our employees, especially our dedicated Social Value Team, not only fulfil our commitments but also drive us to lead the way in social value delivery within the construction industry. We have some fantastic headline results for the year, with a particular focus on volunteering, local employment and tackling food and home insecurity in the borough. “Lewisham as a borough is full of diverse communities, our social value team has worked extremely hard the past year to support a wide range of projects and communities and in the process have got to work with some amazing community leaders. The amazing Evelyn Community Centre which is supporting people suffering from food and energy poverty, Caroline Fox from Pepys Estate who is working tirelessly to improve bio-diversity and nature on her estate and the wonderful Single Homeless Project who provide a safe space and a warm bed for people at risk or suffering from homelessness. A huge thank you to Charles, Alys, Farrah, Jake and Emilio from Lewisham Council for all your support and enthusiasm, without such a collaborative approach these results would not be possible.” Julian Sanz 🌈 – Head Of Social Value The full report is available to view here: https://lnkd.in/e3HH2ENu Charles Osei-Bonsu Alys Exley-Smith William Cooper Martin Walker Ahmet Kasab Colm Coyle Jennifer Daothong Nazeya Hussain Patrick Dubeck Nick Fenwick Bruce Benson MRICS MCIOB CIHM Peter Sharman Vikki Emmines Gillian Douglas Kemi Ojutalayo Gemma Peglar

In line with our Social Value commitments for our client Transport for London, the Fenwick South development recently welcomed students from across Lambeth for the Construction Youth Trust's annual "Lambeth Contractors Challenge". The visit featured a presentation by Mulalley's Senior Project Manager, a Q&A session with our apprentice bricklayer, Christian, who excelled in his apprenticeship, and our Health and Safety Manager, Shane, discussing the significance of safety. An educational tour of the site allowed students to inquire about construction techniques, job opportunities, health and safety importance, and the logistical challenges of managing large-scale developments in central London. John Moore, Managing Director of Mulalley New Build, commented, "Mulalley was pleased to host the students for the Construction Youth Trust's 'Contractors Challenge' at our Fenwick South Estate Site. Given the current labour shortage in the construction sector, it's crucial to encourage young people to consider a career in construction. We hope the students and teachers found the site tour enlightening, and we extend our gratitude to our apprentice bricklayer Christian, Shane from our Health and Safety Team, and our Senior Project Manager for providing another excellent tour and hospitality." Mulalley is presently collaborating with Transport for London on the Fenwick South Estate project, aiming to deliver 46 new affordable homes . These initiatives are part of a joint social value strategy with the London Borough of Lambeth and Transport for London. Congratulations to Mulalley on the Completion of the Oxlow Lane Development! 🎉 We’re delighted to recognise the incredible work done by Mulalley in the completion of 63 new homes as part of the Oxlow Lane development for Be First Regeneration Limited, the urban regeneration arm of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham. Mulalley have created through this development: ✅ 9 apprenticeships for local people ✅ Over £3 million invested in local suppliers and SMEs ✅ Creation of 58 new full-time jobs in the community ✅ Donations exceeding £36,000 in financial contributions and resources to local initiatives Mulalley’s commitment to sustainable building and community engagement on this project is truly commendable.
