We specialise in all things ‘edible’: food, beverage and all the weird and wonderful in between. We’re the founding team from behind Smith & Sinclair + Pollen, two award-winning, successful, consumer products; so we truly know how to take a concept all the way through to international distribution. Our extensive experience combined with our network across the world, has earned us an impressive reputation for excellence.     Love love love the Juicy Brick annual trend report on #foodandbeverage #innovation — here are the nuggets that made my eye balls POP! 👀 🤯 ⬇️ Full report ( 🔗 ⬇️ ) 1️⃣ Remember no-frills supermarket brands made with the cost-conscious shoppers in mind? Well, no more! Private label is the NEW PREMIUM! Retail brands like Trader Joe's, ALDI, Kroger, Walmart (as well as Erewhon's super premium private-label products like canned mineral water & $20 kids lunches... ) ARE TRENDING! 2️⃣ #GenZ - surprise surprise! - actively seek CONSUMPTION CONVENIENCE since 6 hrs a day on #socialmedia leaves them with very little time for food prep (sarcasm is mine alone, not Juicy Bricks!) driving the following themed conclusions: 🌟 They love meals that require simply adding water/ milk/ heat (bye bye true health outcomes) 🌟 They are fans of the next gen of meal replacements like Huel's RTD labeled as 'fast, nutritious & complete food' (GAWD, humanity is doomed!) 🌟 Snacking is a lifestyle choice! (erm... grab-n-go options = 🤮 ) 🌟 Love the 'end of the world' theme, with consumers buying 'apocalypse buckets' in their weekly shop, and supplies like Patagonia Provisions already staples 3️⃣ Fantastically plucked 'dystopian wellness trends'. Juicy Brick predict: 🌟 GLP -1 diets dominating the weight loss space 🌟 Clearer definitions of terms like"probiotics,""prebiotics,"and"GLP-1 mimics" (and I predict a whole load of pro/pre/GLP-washing!) 🌟 Proliferation of the ‘Rice/Oatzempic’ weight loss drink trend Frankly the entire report IDs the trends fuelling the current DYSTOPIAN HEALTH CRISIS, driving us further and further away from improving true health outcomes. (Which makes my 💔 hurt) The one 'dystopian' trend I'm keen to follow is powdered human br*ast milk. Leche (itsmyleche.com) is disrupting the infant formula market by 'modernising br*ast milk' and making it 'accessible and convenient for your feeding journey'. (Makes so much more biological sense than drinking milk from a cow 🐄 ) 4️⃣ They pose an interesting question: THE QUESTION ISN'T JUST "WHAT'S NEW?" BUT"WHERE DOES IT END?” The report concludes: Perhaps it's time to return to the basics or, better yet, rethink what genuinely adds value, rather than just cluttering the market. To which I say: HELL YES! Because... we have REAL big problems on our hands: ⚡In 2019 diabetes caused 1.5m deaths (Source: WHO) ⚡Half the world will be obese by 2023 (Source: McKinsey) ⚡"The average human is far more likely to die from bingeing at McDonald’s than from drought, Ebola or an al-Qaeda attack."
