About us

Established in 2007 by Andrew Gibbs, Dieline has become the leading media brand for consumer packaging and consumer brands. Dieline is committed to supporting the advancement of the package design industry in all its forms. Our website began as a platform for the industry to share design innovation and creativity through original editorial content, and reader-submitted projects. Our platform grew to include Dieline Awards, our global package design competition, and Dieline Conference, our annual package design event. Dieline is the world’s most visited packaging design website, and it highlights the importance and value of packaging design for brands in today’s world. In 2018, Dieline has evolved into a high-level bespoke creative platform for package designers, brand designers, consumer brands, agencies, suppliers, sustainability experts, students, and packaging manufacturers. With our new platform, Dieline’s core focus for 2019 and beyond is to build a global community of packaging designers and to advocate the packaging industry towards more sustainable solutions through creativity and innovation.

While pistachios have a long history in Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, and Central Asian cultures, their journey to America is surprisingly relatively recent. I know Shelf Life isn’t a #newsletter on product or brand history, but I’m certainly not a historian, but the pistachio chronology fascinates me. As we see more and more modern pistachio brands popping up, it’s essential to know the nut’s past. Pistachios originated in the Middle East, particularly in modern-day Iran and Afghanistan. Valued as a symbol of wealth in ancient Persia, they spread through Asia and the Mediterranean via the Silk Road. By the 1st century CE, pistachios reached the Roman Empire, becoming popular in Italy and Greece, where they would work their way into pastries and gelato. Over time, they became a staple of Mediterranean diets, firmly establishing their role in the region’s cuisine. Subscribe and read more >>> https://lnkd.in/eBsVKyyG

The #packagingdesign for Dancing Beans Coffee highlights a dynamic identity that reflects its core values of being global, premium, and accessible to coffee lovers. By utilizing a bright green and blue color combination, lively #illustrations, and a clean #typeface, the design captures the joy of sharing coffee experiences and fosters a sense of community while remaining as approachable as drinking coffee should be. We spoke with designer Pao Bassol about how she dreamed up a premium coffee brand that encourages taking the time to disconnect and enjoy a hot cup of bean-juice. Jolly Rancher partnered with Little Big Brands to refresh its #packaging, infusing it with vibrant colors, playful #typography, and dynamic fruit #illustrations to better reflect its bold, fruity personality. The new design emphasizes the candy’s flavors through hyper-realistic glass fruit visuals. The major updates include an updated #colorpalette, a refreshed wordmark, and streamlined product differentiation. When you think of whisky brands, traditional names like Lagavulin and Glenfiddich might come to mind – think minimal #design, dark labels, a touch of mystique, and some serious old-world vibes. But what happens when a brand decides to do things differently? Enter Compass Box. With its playful, #maximalist designs (shoutout to the creative minds at Stranger & Stranger) and a blending approach that’s as layered as fine art, they’re challenging the status quo of the whisky world. Compass Box showcases stories, eccentricities, and the occasional monster mascot, making each release a character in their "whisky maker" universe. Does pushing boundaries dilute the essence of these storied traditions?

The packaging, designed by Oslop Studio, features playful, abstract figures that bring an element of fun and movement to the design. The overarching aesthetic of the packaging leans into a vibrant, #retrofuturistic style, blending bold geometric forms with playful, abstract characters. The use of warm, earthy tones combined with contrasting bright colors evokes a sense of #nostalgia, while the minimalist #design and clean typography give it a modern edge.
