The restoration of Lincoln’s famous Wonky House is now complete! 🎉 With the roof fully restored using our handcrafted clay plain tiles, the final interior fit-out is now underway. Thanks to the C.E.L Group (1989) Ltd and Scorer Hawkins Architects, this historic treasure has been brought back to life. Yesterday, we had the opportunity to host 14 engineering and manufacturing students from University of Cambridge at our factory in Ewhurst. They explored various aspects of our operations, from production processes to hands-on clay roof tile making. The bespoke, hand-crafted tiling on the Aisher House pavilions is nothing short of extraordinary. Set on the front lawn of the main school, this unique collaboration with Tim Ronalds Architects and our heritage roofing experts brought something truly special to life. We had an incredible time at Lincoln Construction Week 2024! Over the course of three days, around 1,500 students of all ages got hands-on experience with careers in construction – from architecture to bricklaying to digger driving. 🚜🧱 Our team guided students in creating their own 3D clay carvings and sculptures, with Ian Martinson, our Carver of Clay, helping them bring their imaginations to life through clay. We also discussed the exciting potential of careers in the construction industry! Attending with the wienerberger UK Site Services Team, who demonstrated the Porotherm and Eco-Brick systems, was a great experience. It was an honour to help judge awards for Best Student, Teacher, and School at each session.
