Celebrated International Women's Day at Kingsley Napley! We were still buzzing from our International Women's Day event at the firm last Thursday where we celebrated incredible women who broke barriers in their lives and careers. The evening kicked off with a powerful performance from the Kingsley Napley choir, who performed a heartfelt rendition of Helen Reddy's "I am Woman". We were then joined by three incredible panelists, Laura Young, Dionne S., and Marcia Longdon, who shared their personal journeys of resilience, overcoming challenges, and empowering others to do the same. The event was wonderfully chaired by Mélanie Bernard and we had some opening words from Iain Miller on the importance of IWD to him and his family. Our panel highlights and key takeaways: Laura Young: - Moved from Taiwan to the US, overcoming the language barrier to advocate for herself. - Stressed the importance of destigmatising therapy for mental wellness. - Advised to be courageous and compassionate to yourself, especially. Dionne S. - Grew up never seeing a box for her identity as a mixed-race woman, so she created her own. - Emphasised that success is personal - always strive to beat your own personal best. - Encouraged everyone to not get in their own way, and to be their biggest cheerleader. Marcia Longdon - Shared her experiences of racism growing up and the resilience and determination it gave her. - Became Kingsley Napley's first Black partner, defying stereotypes of what a lawyer should look and sound like. - Advised to be unapologetically yourself. Thank you to our panelists and to everyone who joined us to share these powerful stories of perseverance, strength, and success! Together, we break barriers and build a more inclusive future. #InternationalWomensDay2025 #BreakingBarriers #DiversityEquityInclusion #KingsleyNapley

Calling all women lawyers..... Kingsley Napley are hosting a The City of London Solicitors' Company event on Monday 24 March focused on 'Developing your Personal Brand' We'll be asking.... ➡️ What exactly is a personal brand? ➡️ Do lawyers need one to succeed in private practice and, if so, what does good look like? ➡️ How does having a personal brand sit with your law firm’s own brand? You'll hear from outstanding leaders including: Christina Blacklaws (she/her) (former Law Society President and legendary legal innovator, Gus Sellitto, founder of Byfield PR and reputation management, Michelle Holford, Slaughter and May’s first Chief Commercial Officer, Jessica Clay, a partner in our award-winning Legal Services Regulatory Team and Charlie Moore CAA a senior paralegal at Kingsley Napley. The Times reports that 60% of people in the UK think that the law should be reformed so that #prenuptial agreements are automatically upheld on divorce. This is based on findings of new research commissioned by Kingsley Napley to mark the launch of Nuptial - the new service from our Family | Kingsley Napley team. Our family law expert Jane Keir, “Sadly, there are no imminent plans from this government for law change on prenups but there should be. The jungle drums for reform in this area will only get louder.” To read more about this research, and our Nuptial service - https://lnkd.in/dx5_DY5X To read the Times article (paywall) - https://lnkd.in/dzuT-ksu
