Landlords who do not keep their properties in a decent state of repair and cause harm to their tenants could face fines of up to £30,000 under a new policy agreed by Knowsley Council tonight. The Housing Civil Penalties Policy allows the council to issue significant monetary fines as an alternative to prosecutions for breaches of the Housing Act 2004 where it believes that a fine offers the greatest deterrent to landlords, and is most likely to secure an effective outcome for tenants. The types of offences that would be covered by the policy include failure to comply with an Improvement Notice (where homes are found to be in a poor state of repair); offences in relation to licensing of homes, overcrowding and breaches of banning orders. 📞Our old telephone lines are being replaced with a digital network. This means a more reliable, future proof service that will support the UK and its residents for years to come. Services that rely on the old landline system, such as home phones and healthcare devices, will be switched over. This is important because it might impact some Knowsley residents, who will need to take steps to make sure they are ready for the digital switch over. If you have any questions about when your line will be switched over, contact your service provider who will be able to help.
