To play it forward and support babies and children in the UK, IKEA have partnered with the Baby Bank Alliance with £1 from every sale of the SKOGSDUVA range being donated to the Alliance. This magical range for children is inspired by the enchanted forests of Sweden and features endangered animals. 🐝 🍂 🦔 🌳 🦉 We’re so proud to be a founding member of the Baby Bank Alliance, and to see the difference that’s already being made with partners like IKEA - it's wonderful to have partners that help support and draw attention to helping families in need. They’ve also kindly directly donated some of these gorgeous pieces directly to us & the families we support - thank you! 💕 #PlayItForward #IkeaUK #SKOGSDUVA #BabyBankAlliance

Network of baby banks passing on pre-loved clothes & equipment to give London's 0-5-year-olds the essentials they need
About us
Little Village makes a big difference to families with babies and young children living in poverty across London. Via our network of a baby banks, we pass on great quality loved baby goods from one family to another: clothes, shoes and coats so that children are clean and dry; toys and books to support play and development; beds for a safe and cosy night’s sleep. Families either visit a Little Village hub in Camden, Tooting or Brent, or items are packed with care and delivered to their home. But it doesn’t stop there. We also connect families into a wider network of support, helping them to build and extend their own ‘village’. Thanks to the generous donations of loved items, precious time and money, in 2023 Little Village was able to support more than 8,500 children. But the demand for help still outstripped our capacity to respond week on week. Essentials are becoming unaffordable for more and more families with babies and young children, and many are facing complete destitution. Your support will mean that Little Village can help families directly with a bundle of essentials packed for their individual children’s needs: from newborn to weaning and toddling, to play and pre-school. If you’re a business and share our dream that no child in the capital grows up without essential items for daily life and would like to discuss donating some of your products or profit share to our work, please contact us at fundraising@littlevillagehq.org.

Following the Chancellor's Autumn Budget announcement, we are deeply concerned that the measures announced fail to adequately address the urgent challenges facing families and children living in poverty across the capital. Sophie Livingstone MBE, our CEO said: "Today's budget has fallen short in tackling child poverty. Although welcome, measures such as increased investment in breakfast clubs, are baby steps - instead of the big and urgent strides we need. "Every day we see families who simply can’t afford the essentials such as winter clothes, fresh nappies, a Moses basket and with the cold weather upon us, the daily juggle is getting worse. Spring is a long time to wait for the Child Poverty Strategy.” With families across London struggling to meet their children’s basic needs, the absence of targeted measures risks leaving vulnerable children without critical support. A dedicated strategy that guarantees increased access to affordable childcare and enhanced child benefits is essential to lift families out of poverty. We will continue to support the work of others including the End Child Poverty Coalition, Joseph Rowntree Foundation (JRF), Trussell Trust and the Early Education and Childcare Coalition in urging the government to: • Abolish the two-child limit - so that there's money to support all the children in the family • Introduce an Essentials Guarantee into Universal Credit - so that the basic rate will at least cover the essentials • Guarantee affordable childcare - so that all families have access to affordable, high-quality childcare provision #Budget2024 #AutumnBudget

This year so far, we have supported 4,962 families who are going through incredibly challenging times and bringing them some relief and joy. So many garments either go to waste or remain untouched in closets for years, and we're so glad to turn them from pre-loved to re-loved. We're delighted to announce a partnership with ihateironing, who through their network of London dry cleaners are offering Little Village 12kgs laundry service a week for the most essential items, such as buggy covers, foot muffs, slings and some winter coats, to ensure these preloved items are expertly cleaned and ready for new homes. “We hope to be giving these preloved clothes and supplies a new lease on life,” says Matt C., CEO & Founder of ihateironing, “so that they can have a big impact on a new family’s wellbeing.” We always ask that clothes are donated washed, and in great condition with no stains so that we don't have to recycle them - and with no laundry facilities, having a few of the most essential items washed each week is really helpful! Thank you so much!

A huge thank you goes out to National Lottery for their incredible support of Little Village. 💕 This funding has allowed us to grow our village, increase the amount of pre-loved essential items shared with families who have young children (which will be passed to other families to love) and connect them to much-needed resources for navigating life in London. Incredibly, it’s almost the 30th anniversary of the National Lottery - we’re counting down! 🎂 #NationalLottery #BabyBanks #LittleVillage The National Lottery Community Fund

Poverty takes a huge toll on Londoner’s physical and mental health. 😞 Children and adults in low income households are two to three times more likely to develop mental health problems than those in the highest. #PovertyFreeLondon #LDNChallengePoverty
