Thank you to everyone who came to Llamau's International Women’s Day event, in partnership with Women in Property Wales. The brilliant speakers included Llamau’s CEO Sam Austin and Principality’s CEO Julie-Ann Haines as well as a panel of experts discussing how we can accelerate women in society and the workplace. Events like these are so important for raising awareness of how homelessness affects women. This mornings' joint event and panel discussion was with Women in Property Wales, Principality Building Society and Llamau at Cardiff City Football Club in aid of International Women's Day 2025 "Accelerate Action" is this year's #IWD theme and today's panel of experts highlighted the incredible work that Llamau is doing to drive change for women in Wales. Llamau not only support homelessness due to domestic abuse, they also support with educational needs, with legal rights and they make a positive impact of people's lives. #education #refusetogiveup #support #EqualityForWomen #WomenInConstruction

This morning, Associate Bethan Tapper spoke at a panel event for International Women’s Day at Cardiff City Stadium. The event was hosted by Llamau and Women in Property Wales and sponsored by Principality Building Society. The theme of this year's International Women's Day, ‘Accelerate Action’, guided the discussion, where Bethan highlighted how our collaboration with Llamau and the provision of our Pro Bono legal clinic help to advance and protect women’s rights. Other panellists included representatives from Llamau, who spoke about the incredible work the organisation does to support women and young people experiencing homelessness. #AccelerateAction #InternationalWomensDay #IWD2025

I really enjoyed attending the Women in Property Wales International Women's Day 2025 event this morning in partnership with Llamau at Cardiff City Stadium. It was really eye opening and humbling to hear all the important work that Llamau do as a charity around South Wales and the life changing impacts they have on the lives of women and young people. Particularly helping those that have suffered from domestic abuse. It was quite shocking to hear some of the stats relating to cases of domestic abuse and some of the stories behind them. Wardell Armstrong LLP (part of SLR) have donated to the charity in recent years, so it was great to hear some examples of how donations can help support them do their important work.

The news is so grim ATM and I've been feeling a bit defeated by it all. This morning has done a lot to change that - inspirational talks from Julie-Ann Haines and Sam Austin at Llamau's #iwd event, supported by Principality Building Society. The brilliant panel discussion reminded me that, whilst it feels like there is more to do than ever, we've come a long way, and if we let ourselves get bogged down in #misogynist rhetoric, they'll have won. The fact that so many people (not exclusively but predominantly men) are emboldened to embrace that rhetoric right now is proof that we're getting to them. They're threatened. Let's keep on. Women are disproportionately affected by homelessness and Llamau are doing all they can to change the circumstances of women and their families who find themselves homeless. Many of us live blinkered lives, but domestic abuse is one of the biggest causes of homelessness for women and Llamau do the most incredible work; reaching out with safe hands and providing a lifeline for those who maybe previously couldn’t see a way out. Such a thought provoking joint event this morning between Llamau, Women in Property Wales and Principality Building Society for #internationalwomensday.  It was a great opportunity to really understand the incredible work Llamau is doing and the positive impact it's having on everyone they support. A fantastic morning at the Women in Property International Women's Day event with Llamau.
