Be sure to catch this week's Podnews Weekly Review! Our founder, Harry Morton sat down with James Cridland and Sam Sethi to talk about why we bought the Pacific Content brand, and what our plans are for the future of branded podcasting. "[Pacific Content] did incredible creative work and, as a company, they talked for a long time about this idea of creative bravery and pushing brands to do interesting, inspiring work in podcasts. That's something that we massively believe in and agree with. Not only that, the founders and many of the team at Pacific were hugely generous in sharing the things that they were learning with the industry in an attempt to build branded podcasting up and push the space forward. When the opportunity came up, it was kind of a no-brainer, because I think we share many of those values and we're really trying to hold them up ourselves. In purchasing the brand, we want to continue that mission onwards." Have a listen on Podnews Weekly Review.

    sam@truefans.fm - Podcasting That Pays

On this week's Podnews Weekly Review we have two stellar interviews. The first is with Andrew Mason the CEO of Descript talking about the present, past and future of Descript. Andrew talks about how they got started, the recent Phase 6 release with the new 'Under Lord' AI assistant and what they have planned in future releases. The other is Harry Morton the CEO of Lower Street who have just acquired Pacific Content. Harry talks about why they did it and what their plans are for the future together. James Cridland and I also talk about: Magellan AI announcing support for UID2 and ID5 which allows advertisers to recognise individuals and serve them targeted ads, replacing cookies and IP tracking. Is this a good thing? #advertising #tracking Podcast ad spending increased by 22% year-on-year, but the amount of ads in podcasts has increased by 20%. How many ads in a podcast should there be and have listeners got the capacity to hear more ads per hour like radio? #advertising #elasticity Microsoft Research has launched a new tool called GraphRAG*, which (in part) uses podcast transcripts to produce a “knowledge-graph” of a podcast, making it easier to search. #futures Get Podnews Weekly Review Weekly wherever you get your podcasts !!! * GraphRAG is a structured, hierarchical approach to Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), as opposed to naive semantic-search approaches using plain text snippets. The GraphRAG process involves extracting a knowledge graph out of raw text, building a community hierarchy, generating summaries for these communities, and then leveraging these structures when performing RAG-based tasks.
