Reminder: Be the one that doesn't give up at the first, second or third hurdle. Be the one that keeps going no matter what. Building something impactful is hard - it takes determination, resilience and energy - even at times when you feeling like you’ve got nothing left to give. But cracking it is the most reward feeling. If you’re one of those crazy people (like me) bringing something amazing into this world then as hard as it might feel right now - we need what you’re building. Don’t give up. ************************ 💖Tag someone building something amazing ♻️ Reshare to remind people that incredible things take time

❗Fake news is spreading quicker than real news... Did you know that drinking salt water can lead to extreme weight loss?🧂 Or that you can shed LOTS of skin on your face during your period? 🩸 And that lime juice will successfully delay your period, so you won’t have to worry about it for your holiday? 🏖 We didn’t know these things either... And that’s because the three statements above are completely untrue ❌ Instead, they’re dangerous myths invented by TikTokers (not medics!) to increase views. But, where many of us will scroll past these lies, able to debunk them in real time, there’s a huge demographic that hasn't been taught how to decipher fact from fiction (yet): Impressionable teens. That’s why it’s essential that parents keep up to date on the most recent trends dominating social media. 👇👇👇 Swipe on the carousel below to understand 3 of the most popular ones 💪The good news is there’s an antidote to consuming this type of misinformation: luna The luna app is reactively debunking social media myths by: ✅Creating relevant articles and videos ✅Quickly answering any questions from teens ✅Dispelling myths over on our socials too ----- ♻️ Share this post if you are or know a parent ➕ Follow me, Jo Goodall, as we build luna - the world's first digital health & wellbeing companion

This post really hit home for me. Starting a business is tough—mentally, physically, and emotionally. Support, kindness, patience, and understanding from those around you can make a world of difference. Here are 9 game-changing things people did for me when starting luna: 1.👏 Show public support - like, comment, and share their posts 2.❤️ Give them grace if they don’t reply immediately 3.💗 Buy their products or subscriptions (if you can) 4.🗣 Recommend their product/service to others 5.🌱 Consider a small investment, if possible 6. 🧠 Share your expertise pro bono 7. 🤝 Offer to make introductions 8. 🙏 Give constructive feedback 9. 🫶 Be kind - it's tough! I'm so grateful that actions on this list from friends, founders and more still continue today. If you know someone starting or running a business, consider these things, it'll mean so much. Thanks Chris Donnelly for talking so openly about entrepreneurship. ♻️ Reshare if this post resonated 👉 Comment on your biggest cheerleaders on here to show them some love ************************ 🧠 Follow me Jas Schembri-Stothart for relatable founder stories like this as I build luna ⚡️

❗️21% of girls do lots of sport, compared to 39% of boys That’s nearly double the amount of boys. Why is this? Aside from the confidence gap, harmful stereotypes, and lack of funding, there’s another culprit: Period anxiety. With 1000+ luna members citing 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬 𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐚𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 as a reason why they find sport difficult. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬? Start talking. 👉 Anecdotes, uncomfortable experiences, moments of confusion, acts of kindness, educational resources. Every time periods are mentioned openly, without taboo, it’s signalling to younger women that: What they’re going through is 𝐧𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 🤝 And there’s no reason why periods should stop them thriving in sports. That’s why we commend Canadian underwear brand Knix's new campaign which is 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐫 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐝𝐬 🩸 Ahead of the Olympics, it’s incredible to see Knix challenging the secrecy and shame around periods, when it’s something that will be affecting thousands of elite athletes at the defining moments of their careers. Likewise, we’re proud that luna allows teens to read *thousands* of questions on periods (like the one below 👇) giving them: ✅ Insight into another teen’s experience - so they feel 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐞 ✅ A medically-verified response to the question - so they’re 𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 ******************** 💡 Follow this page luna - the world’s first health and wellbeing app for teens - and gain insights into adolescent health, Gen Alpha, and startup development 🚀

Get paid to talk about your period 🩸 Just in time for the Olympics, Canadian underwear brand Knix is paying athletes to speak openly about their periods. 𝗪𝗵𝘆? 🤸 1 in 2 teens skip sports to hide their period 🩸 84% lose interest in sports after starting their period 👩👩👧👧 44% of parents make excuses to keep daughters out of sports during their period 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀: 🩲 Fear of leaking (this is the biggest concern across the luna teen community) 😞 Physical symptoms 📕 Lack of education on period products Over 5000 female athletes will compete in the Paris Olympics. But for every competitor, there's another who dropped out due to period stigma—5000 potential gold medalists. Periods shouldn’t be taboo. Unfortunately, by not talking about them enough and giving unhelpful education to young girls, we end up reinforcing the stereotypes that serve to limit their access to physical activity. Kudos to Knix for tackling this issue and encouraging open conversations. And kudos to parents and schools supporting their daughters with resources like luna. ******************** 🧠 Follow me Jas Schembri-Stothart, Co-founder of luna - the world's first health and wellbeing app for teens. How does luna regularly deliver reactive features at a lightning speed? ⚡️💪 Our *incredible* tech team. Including the team’s latest addition, software developer: Nicole Watkins-Schembri We’re dedicated to celebrating the individuals who are making luna THE health & wellbeing digital guide for teens globally. And Nicole is, quite literally, behind this process, developing and building luna’s features at an unbelievable pace, while retaining the 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝 🙌 Before making a career switch to software engineering, Nicole was a digital marketer and social media manager at Disney and National Geographic - meaning that she’s also exceptionally creative (and a huge asset to the marketing team 🙏) … Nicole’s innovative and strategic thinking delivers a product that teens actually love. 𝐈𝐧 𝐚 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐬, 𝐍𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝: ✅ A brand new *stunning* website  ✅ A complete redesign of one of the app’s key features: our article, video, and quiz catalogue  ✅ A 4 week Wellbeing Challenge, with 1000s of teens taking part daily Those are just a few of the headlines, there’s waaay too many developments and updates to list them all ✨ And beyond the tech wizardry, she brings so much positivity, kindness, and empathy to the team everyday - something genuinely essential in a fast-paced startup 🙌 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤? Head of Tech, Russ Winborn-Peart: "Nicole was originally hired as our first Junior Software Engineer, but since taking on this role she has shown that she can do so much more - the 𝐬𝐰𝐢𝐬𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐲 𝐤𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐞 of Product & Tech!” luna’s co-founder, Jo Goodall: "Nicole is the quintessential 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩 𝐚𝐥𝐥-𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫! She understands that technology is just one piece of the puzzle and appreciates how it integrates into the broader mission of an organisation. Nicole excels at wearing multiple hats” Finding a team member who can operate seamlessly in a startup environment (the wearer of multiple hats 🎩🧢👒) cannot be underestimated. So, thank you to Nicole for her role in transforming what it means to be a teen in 2024. And a belated happy birthday! 🎂🎉

Life outside of work will affect our performance. But what if your boss / Co-Founder / Investor noticed and offered support instead of criticism? Building a culture of empathy and kindness isn't about being ‘nice’. It's a commitment to being honest and transparent with each other, being open to additional support when needed. This is key to building resilient teams that are ready to manage life's curve balls and imperative to increased employee satisfaction, loyalty, and productivity. As a Founder and Leader who has had life throw some serious curveballs at unexpected times, I'm doing my best to model the above through: 👉 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴: give your full attention during meetings - turn slack + emails off 👉 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: create safe spaces for your people to speak up 👉 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲: it's ok to be vulnerable - share your personal stories, support their actions + model the empathetic behaviours you want to see ⬇️ Comment below what you'd add to this list? ******************** 🧠  Follow me Jas Schembri-Stothart as I build my start-up luna in public - sharing an open, honest and real account of my Founder experiences along the way ⚡️

Yesterday Jo Goodall and I had a HUGE fan girl moment…. We met our Product idol - Duolingo who clearly agreed with us - it’s COMING HOME THIS WEEKEND 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Duolingo, the icons with… 🥇 product metrics that set the gold standards for founders, investors, accelerators and more - I’m pretty sure almost every B2C founder looks up to them 📱features that make their product so sticky, engaging and obsessive (how long is your streak?) 🎙️socials like no other - funny, sharp, on trend, relatable! if you have no idea what I’m talking about then have you been hiding under a rock the last decade 👀 🌎 an amazing mission, making learning languages accessible and fun! Just like Duo has with language learning, we too have HUGE ambitions for luna. Someone has to be the first to disrupt to teen health and wellbeing, making it more accessible, relatable and reliable - with nearly 100k teens on our platform luna is excited to be that someone ⬅️⬅️⬅️ It ain’t easy, but building something incredible and game changing never is. Duolingo we’ve watched your amazing journey from afar over the last 12 years and we are constantly in awe of the trailblazers that you are ⚡️ Final thing, if you see this keep making B2C sexy, please.

When do children get their first phones? 📱⬇️ We polled our community of 80,000+ teens on the luna app and discovered that the average age is… 🤯 9 years old. And a significant number reported they received their first phone at age 6 - just one year into formal education. This means primary-school-aged pupils, in the prime of cognitive development, are actively learning corrosive online habits. Primarily, social media - with the average child (aged 5 - 15) spending FIVE HOURS every single day exclusively on these platforms. As an app, phone and tablet use is fundamental to our business. It feels inevitable teens will have internet access - so 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐬, 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐚, 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐚 🤝 Some organisations have taken action against the delicing age of phone use: 🙌 Parents in the Irish town Greystones have agreed not to buy their children smartphones until they turn 12 🚫 Eton recently announced that they will be banning all smartphones for year 9 pupils, instead giving them offline Nokia ‘bricks’, with the hope this will improve behaviour and mental wellbeing 🔒 Brighton college are going a step further and banning phones with internet access from the site as well as locking away ALL phones (including offline phones) during the day But, do these measures recognise that tweens/teens are 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬? What happens outside of school hours, or when the age arrives to be trusted online? In other words, teenagers exist in virtual spaces, so it’s essential to find social media alternatives that enforce healthy offline habits. For example, GoHenry which promotes early financial literacy or Headspace which is teaching teens the fundamentals of mindfulness. As well as luna which is supporting 1000s of teens through adolescence everyday with advice, articles, and videos from real medics - including how to thrive in school, home, relationships, and beyond (without constant phone use!)  The internet isn’t going anywhere, so let’s prioritise 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞, 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 ✅   Which other platforms can you recommend that are providing safe, digital alternatives for teens?
