Introducing Designing Rainwater: Harvesting Regenerative Water Systems for Enhancement of Local Resources. Future Harvest Event: An immersive banquet, a collaboration between MA Biodesign and LVMH. We journeyed through the future possibilities of food crafted from rainwater and explored innovations that intertwine luxury, design and sensory experiences. Our guests embarked on a journey through four remarkable projects: Aqualibrium, Low Tea, Nou and Terragelli. The tour consists of insightful experiences, exploring the future of food and witnessing how our students design resilient systems to adapt to the challenges of rainfall induced by the climate crisis. Designing Rainwater, a project supported by Maison/0 and LVMH in this year’s Challenge Fund. Maison/0 is the Central Saint Martins, University of The Arts London-LVMH creative platform for regenerative luxury. The partnership is committed to leveraging the agency of creativity and education to help regenerate our climate and biodiversity and to empower emerging talents to design a better future. #mabiodesign #design #LuxuryDining #SustainableFood #LVMH #maisonzero

MA Biodesign explores bio-informed design strategies as a driver for sustainable innovation.
About us
Biodesign is an emerging discipline. Despite a growing number of publications and exhibitions, there is no universal definition of biodesign as such. Other terminologies exist, such as biophilic design, bio-integrated design, biomimetic design and bio-informed design. While they vary in definition, they all relate to a similar principle: that we can learn from nature to create more sustainable ways of living. The MA Biodesign at Central Saint Martins specifically understands biodesign as a means to incorporate the inherent life-conducive principles of biological living systems into design processes – to transition into a more holistic, sustainable future.

MA Biodesign presents Filaments of Life🔆 An immersive exhibition that unravels the intricate connections between the natural and the human. As a part of #CSM24 the MA Biodesign graduate showcase shows how each project, a single thread, contributes to weaving a larger collective. This exhibition is not merely a showcase of future possibilities but a reflection on the journey of discovery that Biodesign embodies. Each thread woven into this fabric represents a leap into the unknown, a quest for knowledge and progress. Through the exploration of emerging ideas and the creation of sustainable solutions, Biodesign stands at the forefront of addressing the world's most pressing challenges. The exhibition is meticulously curated to showcase the breadth of Biodesign's application, demonstrating how projects that might seem diverse at first glance are intrinsically connected. We invite you to navigate through a landscape where biological forms and behaviour inspire and inform design innovations and where the potential of Biodesign to address environmental challenges is realised. The exhibition is an ode to the exploratory spirit of the MA Biodesign students, whose works encourage us to imagine a future where design is not only inspired by nature but is in harmony with it. Save the dates and join us for this incredible exhibition!
