𝗗𝗘𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗡𝗡𝗢𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗘𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 - UK: Ophthalmology M&A - Mansfield Advisors acted as exclusive sell-side commercial due diligence advisor to 𝗢𝗖𝗟 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 on its significant multi-million-pound investment from 𝗕𝗚𝗙. Founded in 2018, OCL Vision is an award-winning premium ophthalmology group delivering c.4,000 elective and clinical private procedures every year. The business has evolved from a single site on New Cavendish Street in London into a fast-growth group with ambitious plans to expand across the UK. Mansfield Advisors provided OCL with an analysis for the UK market size and growth forecast by market segment and procedure type, together with an analysis of broader commercial and business development opportunities within the UK ophthalmic market. We wish the OCL management team, OCL staff, and new investor BGF all the best as they continue growing the business. UK: Care Homes for Older People - Freddie Evans, Senior Associate Mansfield Advisors attended the LaingBuisson market report launch hosted by CMS UK. The panel discussion was moderated by Candice Blackwood with Andrea Auteri (Elevation) Derek Breingan 💚 (Virgin Money) James Tugendhat (CEO HC-One) and Tim Read. This is a resilient £26bn+ sector, but also one in flux, with Providers Unite demonstrating outside Parliament this week over the impact of National Insurance increases (given the NHS is exempt), Local Authority fee increases below basic inflation and the UK House of Lords voting in favour of a Liberal Democrats amendment by 305 votes to 175 (a majority 130) of exempting care providers from the large increase in employers’ national insurance contributions. Meanwhile, the government is busy dreaming up yet more unfunded increases in costs for care providers in the form of the Employment Rights Bill and its Fair Pay Agreement. As a result the sector has focussed on increases in private fees which continue to subsidise state funded residents, something the previous Government supported the Competition and Markets Authority in investigating, all while the regulator, Care Quality Commission, is seen as failing after the bungled introduction of its new Single Assessment Framework and has just appointed a new CEO, Sir Julian Hartley. The fundamentals of the sector have never been stronger, but investors have never needed good advice more. Europe: Going private...going public - Are the public markets still mis-pricing assets and offering more opportunities for private equity?
