The Clinical Skills Society’s FFP Preparedness Program has finally concluded, after 15 weeks of sessions teaching 4th year medical students in preparation for their upcoming exams. With over 100 different students attending at least 1 session, and teaching delivered by over 30 different final year medic volunteers, the program has been a huge success! Feedback from our sessions highlights just how much of an impact we have had - with every single attendee reporting an increase in their confidence performing clinical examinations! From orthopaedic history taking to catheter insertion, we have covered a huge range, and I could not be more proud of what we have achieved! A special thanks to Libbi Burchnall for all of her hard work every week, and to Aisia Lea and Daniel Clayman for their input last year in developing the curriculum, as well as Nick Turton and the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham Clinical Skills Team for letting us use their space and equipment! When I started Clinical Skills Society in my 2nd year of university, I couldn’t have imagined how beneficial it would become for so many students and I really am so proud of all the hard work everyone has put in! I can’t wait to begin working on the 5th year ‘Let’s Pass These OSCEs’ series- where we will be focusing much more on the communication side of clinical skills! Watch this space!

The University of Nottingham has joined the European Network on Climate & Health Education (ENCHE), which launched this week, bringing 25 universities together to equip medical students with the knowledge and skills they need to response to the impacts of climate change on human health, and deliver more sustainable healthcare.   The Network aims to train at least 10,000 students across participating universities with the latest scientific and educational resources over the next three years, by integrating climate and health teaching into medical education. Last week I had the opportunity to attend the 34th Alzheimer Europe conference in Geneva as a delegate where my work on "Transgender and gender diverse older people: health, ageing and dementia" was presented by my colleague Emily Asti. It was a privilege to meet so many lived experience delegates, as well as to connect with research experts in the dementia research field from across the world to discuss our findings and hear different perspectives. A particular thank you must go to the School of Medicine, University of Nottingham, as with their support in awarding me the Joan Browne Prize I was enabled to attend the conference.
