Last week, we brought together 18 pioneering climate tech innovators and 10 major corporates for the Mayor of London’s Better Futures Net Zero Innovation Challenge Pitch Day. The startups pitched their cutting-edge solutions to Unilever, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Arup, Thomas Franks Ltd, Places for London, E.ON, Modulaire Group, Peabody, Milbank Group, Berkeley Group Plc. 🚀 The result? 10 partnerships are moving forward to help accelerate the transition to Net Zero by 2030. This programme is part of the Mayor’s commitment to make London net zero by 2030, a project which Sustainable Ventures has been actively supporting for the past 7 years. Today it’s a two part series update of days 5️⃣ & 6️⃣… Positive progress after Thursday’s frustrating setbacks: 🏗️ minimass bridge beams carefully repositioned & tidied up 👀 Display beam moved ready for its close-ups on #launchday - looks awesome! 🤩 🔩 All 12 timber parapet verticals bolted onto the beams & primed 📏 Measured up for the timber handrails 🌲Test fit for the #glulam decking (turned out it was all delivered upside down…!) 🙃 🍿 Punchy video edit of last week’s action signed off - coming your way tomorrow! Day 4️⃣ update for the minimass footbridge… Not everything went entirely to plan today alas, but plenty of progress nonetheless, including: 📐 🪚🔩🔨 Finished fabricating all 12 timber verticals for the parapets - beauties! ⤵️ Beams lifted and rotated into their upright position, making their lovely #camber much clearer to see 🌈 👷🏼♂️💪🏼 PT steel cables & anchor heads inserted, and cables stressed for the first time (to take the tension) 📈Epsimon fibre optic sensor monitoring equipment installed & sensors tested (all working! 😃) 🎥 Film Infinity Video Production captured some more fantastic footage 🍺 A recce of King’s Lynn’s finest pubs to ID the venue for a celebratory drink next week post launch event! 🎉 However, some unexpected delays encountered - not surprising when building a #worldfirst project I guess! So we’ll be back at Constructionarium Ltd again early next week - but we allowed for this. Day 3️⃣ of #projectfootbridge has been long, but productive: ⏰ “I’d better use this onsite gym” I thought… 6am was the only option… regrets… 🤦🏻 🦺 A multitude of beam-related tasks involving deep squatting / bending followed, including applying primer, then sealant, grouting the steel angles & sanding the epoxy for a super smooth finish for the PT cables 📸 Then onto team photos, headshots & pieces to camera - cue attempt to look professional yet practical, on brand & not too exhausted…👷🏻♂️😬 🚚 The pallets allowing us to rotate the beams FINALLY arrived this pm - joy! 🪵 Lastly we started building the verticals for the timber parapets - 2 down, 10 to go… 🍷 A bev at a lovely local (the 🦆at Stanhoe) very much needed come 7pm!
