Today marks the start of National Apprenticeship Week 2025, a time to celebrate the value of apprenticeships and their potential to build skills, gain valuable industry knowledge and grow your career. Over the past year, we’ve supported more than 40 residents and 77 colleagues into apprenticeships, helping them take meaningful steps towards their career goals and contributing to the communities around them. We've got big plans - by March 2026, we're planning to have over 100 colleagues in apprenticeships. We're focusing on roles that have the biggest impact on supporting our residents, including customer service, management and admin roles. We’re transforming the iconic Ford factory site in Dagenham into a new neighbourhood with homes, parkland and commercial spaces. Working with our partners The Hill Group and Greater London Authority we're building 935 much-needed homes, 35% of which will be affordable housing. We've also completed the first section of a new five-acre urban park for London, which features a large pond, children’s play areas and a heritage trail, honouring the legacy of the Dagenham women who championed equal pay rights in the 1960s and 1980s. We look forward to welcoming new residents later this year. Learn more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eQ3VxR_9 hashtag#DagenhamGreen hashtag#AffordableHousing hashtag#UrbanRegeneration

Peabody’s Academy has received a top rating from Ofsted, putting it in the leading 1.2% of new training providers in the country. 🌟 Our Academy supports colleagues to continue their learning and development through graduate programmes and professional qualifications. Following an Ofsted visit in January inspectors highlighted our progress in leadership and management, quality of education and safeguarding. They said that apprentices who have secured new roles or promotion cited the knowledge and confidence they gained through their apprenticeship as having “greatly contributed to their success”. Since becoming an employer learning provider in March 2023, the Academy has supported colleagues in gaining apprenticeships to develop professional skills. These programmes help our teams build valuable expertise while making a positive impact on the communities we serve. This week, we hosted our second Apprenticeship Awards, celebrating the achievements of our apprentices, partners and colleagues. Congratulations to all our nominees and winners! Kruise Clarke, winner of Rising Star of the Year award, shared: "Doing an apprenticeship while being neurodiverse has meant my studying has been adapted to suit me, allowing me to achieve my goals and excel in what I do." We also recognised our supply chain partners, who play a vital role in helping residents and community members access apprenticeship opportunities. Congratulations to Axis Europe, winners of Supply Chain Partner of the Year award, and Mulalley, runners-up. Axis said: "It's great to see both mature and young students be recognised for their achievements." A big thank you to everyone who attended the awards. We’re committed to supporting career development through our Academy. By March 2026, we plan to have over 100 colleagues in apprenticeships. This National Apprenticeship Week, Naima shares her experience as an Apprentice Contact Centre Advisor at Peabody. ❓Why would you recommend an apprenticeship? "I’ve developed so many skills, including problem-solving, quick thinking and confidence in communication. It’s also given me hands-on experience and an insight into the housing industry. I get to take part in training courses and one-to-one mentoring, which have helped me grow in my role." ❓What does a typical day look like at the Contact Centre? "Each day starts with preparing for the calls ahead, whether it’s helping residents pay rent, arranging repairs, or advising on how to manage antisocial behaviour.” Looking for a new career opportunity? Catching up with Gurjeevan one year on ⬇️ Last year, during National Apprenticeship week we met Gurjeevan, a Trainee Site Manager at Hill Group UK, who works on our St Ann’s development site in Haringey. Gurjeevan has been balancing his five-year degree apprenticeship with experience working on-site. Over the past 12 months Gurjeevan has gained invaluable experience in construction procedures and management. He’s worked in different departments, including Quantity Surveying and Technical Coordination, developing a well-rounded skill set. His dedication and passion have led him to take on greater responsibilities and even win Hill Group’s 1st Year Trainee Award! 🏆 When asked if he would recommend an apprenticeship, his response was clear: “An apprenticeship gives you the best of both worlds, hands-on experience at work while learning the theory at university. It’s a great option for those unsure about full-time study and wanting to earn while they learn.” We work closely with many of our partners, to help provide apprenticeships and training so residents and people living in our communities can develop new skills and progress their careers. It’s National Apprenticeship Week. Our Peabody Community Foundation helps residents and those in our communities take the next step in their careers. We work with partners like Youthbuild UK (YBUK), who’ve helped hundreds of 18-24-year-olds gain skills and new qualifications in construction, including apprenticeships. Billy’s story shows the impact an apprenticeship can have. Billy isn’t shy to admit he should have worked harder at school. At 23 years old, he’s just passed his maths GCSE and says it was much harder to do now while working. But thanks to Youthbuild, Billy has had the chance to prove it’s never too late to learn. Billy, who grew up in Abbey Wood in Thamesmead, works four days a week as an apprentice electrician on a construction site for homebuilder Durkan. He spends one day a week at college working towards a functional skills qualification – designed to help people develop their essential maths, English and IT skills. Billy is now on track to become a qualified electrician. And while he’s not in any hurry to leave the security and support of his trainee role, he’s excited by the potential his apprenticeship has given him. “By the time I’m 40 I want to be higher up the ladder,” he says when asked about the future. “I now know that things don’t just get given to you. You have to show that you’re willing to work hard for what you want.” When asked if he’d recommend doing an apprenticeship: “Definitely,” he says. “It’s so worthwhile.” Read more about how we work with partners to give residents better access to education, training opportunities and jobs in our Peabody Community Foundation Annual Report and Accounts 2023-24 ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ebdKvnNK #NAW2025 #CHOOSEHOUSING
