We are excited to announce a new project with Geolithical Limited! Geolithical is a UK based fresh-thinking start-up investigating the production of strontium ferrite magnets and how they compare to rare earth permanent magnets. Geolithical engages in the critical minerals industry, from primary production to manufacturing, within a circular economy context, and works with a variety of partners across the supply chain. Minviro will be conducting a life cycle assessment of Geolithical’s feasibility study to quantify the environmental impacts associated with the production of strontium ferrite magnets utilising different feedstocks, including recycled mining waste stockpiles. The results of the LCA will play an important role to meet product requirements and progress names global collaborations. Our dedicated consultant Him Shun Yu will be collaborating on this project to support their sustainability journey. We look forward to working on this project and supporting Geolithical.

We are thrilled to announce that we have concluded our LCA study commissioned by CMOC Group Limited (CMOC) in May 2024. We were commissioned by CMOC to conduct a life cycle assessment of the processes at their Tenke Fungurume mine to quantify the environmental impacts associated with the production of their cobalt and copper products. The project was led by two of our dedicated consultants, Keno Ignace and Lorraine Amponsah. The results of the ISO 14040/14044 compliant LCA study covers 15 internationally accepted impact categories available through the environmental footprint (EF) methodology, detailing climate change scope emissions. Additionally, land use impacts at the Tenke Fungurume mine were quantified using the LANCA methodology, encapsulating all of the sub-categories available within the LANCA model. Thank you to Lyle Trytten and Mark Mistry for critically reviewing the report, contributing to increasing the robustness and ensuring consistency with the requirements formulated in the relevant ISO standards. The results play an important role for CMOC to meet product requirements and progress their global collaborations. Thanks to the team for the collaboration on this project. ______________________________ “With the help of Minviro, we conducted the first comprehensive LCA study at TFM, which provides a better understanding on the environmental impacts of our copper and cobalt products. In addition to meeting the requirements of global battery supply chain, this study also allows us to identify opportunities to further improve our environmental performance”. - Li Qing, ESG Manager at CMOC #LCA #environmentalimpact #minviro

Minviro is excited to announce a new project in collaboration with the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC), a pioneering force that helps the UK automotive industry transition to net zero emissions. Together, we will deliver an LCA report highlighting the climate change impact of producing anode grade graphite through a supply chain in the UK. This project represents a key step in supporting the government’s net zero targets by exploring the benefits of an alternative production route for anode grade graphite. At Minviro we’re committed to supporting these government targets by applying our industry-leading expertise in LCA to quantify the environmental impacts of battery production. By analysing this alternative production route we aim to highlight significant carbon savings and other environmental improvements. The study’s ‘cradle-to-gate’ focus will provide critical insights into how altering the production route to a location that uses more renewables in their grid system can contribute to lowering the carbon footprint of EV production, while supporting the UK's journey towards net-zero emissions. Minviro is proud to partner with APC on this vital project, working towards a more resilient and environmentally-friendly battery ecosystem. By advancing the capabilities of synthetic graphite production within the UK, we’re helping to secure the future of sustainable EV production and supporting the broader goal of clean energy transition. #Sustainability #AutomotiveTechnology #Graphite #LCA
