🎉 We are funding @contactfamilies with a Research Grant to explore the challenges faced by disabled children and their families when accessing transport to and from school. As this is one of the top issues parents ask about on Contact’s helpline they are running a survey for parents or carers of disabled children (or those with additional needs) aged 0 to 25 years old. We are building a future where all disabled people have the transport options to make the journeys they choose.
About us
At the Motability Foundation we fund, support, research and innovate to help all disabled people make the journeys they choose. There are a few key ways we make this happen. We oversee the Motability Scheme and provide grants to help people use it, providing access to transport to hundreds of thousands of people a year. We award grants to charities and organisations who provide different types of transport, or work towards making transport accessible. We also carry out ongoing research, in partnership with disabled people and key stakeholders in the industry, to inspire innovations that continue to champion accessible transport for all. Motability (operating as Motability Foundation) is a Registered Charity in England and Wales number 299745 and a Registered Charity in Scotland number SC050642 and is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, reference number 736309 as a credit broker.

Fantastic day at the Francis Crick Institute for the Motability Foundation PhD scholarships event - amazing to see how the project has evolved with more universities becoming involved and a new cohort of students starting. I was very privileged to be the first student on the pilot project and am rapidly approaching completion. Reflecting back and sharing my experiences over the past 3 years reminded me how far I’ve come and the impact the scheme has had so far. Thanks to Motability Foundation and the National Transport Design Centre
