We've crossed the finish line in Edinburgh!🏁 Today, we completed the final leg of GREENFLEET's 2-day EV Rally, navigating the last official checkpoints along the North Coast 500 and Electric A9. The Rally hasn't only been about covering the miles but also about optimising energy efficiency along the way!🔋 At Dunkeld charging point, we were delighted to meet a Motability Scheme customer and his wife who were on their very first EV expedition from Shetland, and took the opportunity to hear first-hand their positive experience. We even got to visit 'Moo Billy T', the sculpture we proudly sponsored for this year's Hairy Highland Coo Trail, supporting the incredible work Children's Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) does for children with life-shortening conditions in Scotland. Reflecting on this journey, we've gained valuable insights into the accessibility of EV charging points across Scotland—insights that will be crucial as we advocate for truly accessible EV infrastructure for our Motability Scheme customers now and into the future. Day 1 was an adventure! 🚗 As the steepest road in the UK, the Applecross Pass Bealach na Bà was a challenge, but we made it over in one piece and hit all the official checkpoints for Day 1 of GREENFLEET's 2-day EV Rally! Starting from Falcon Square in Inverness, the goal is to reach all the official checkpoints along the NC 500 and Electric A9 while being the most energy-efficient team.⚡ Day 1's checkpoints included: Gairloch: Harbour Car Park Latherton Lane Car Park, Ullapool The Bay, Scourie Tourist Information Centre, Durness Causeway Car Park Tongue Thurso As we’ve progressed, we've seen how weather conditions, charger placement, and road quality can significantly impact accessibility. We've also had the opportunity to field test innovative solutions like our Motability Go Charge app to overcome the challenges our customers might face. These insights are crucial in supporting our Motability Scheme customers as they transition to EVs. Exciting news!⚡ Tomorrow, Gavin Thomson, our Chief Operating Officer, Jonathan Jenkins, our Head of Innovation and Matt Evans, one of our Electric Vehicle Specialists and Motability Scheme customer, will participate in the 2-day, 600-mile EV Rally Of Scotland (EVROS) hosted by GREENFLEET, while in one of the eWAVs found on the Motability Scheme! Heidi Idle, our Head of Communications & Marketing Scotland, Chloe Williams, our Event Executive and Kenny Morton, our Client Manager will also be joining along the EV Rally journey! The EV Rally gives us a great opportunity to explore the accessibility of EV charge points in Scotland and gain first-hand insights into how we can further support our Scheme customers through the EV transition.
