Celebrating our amazing colleagues ❤️ To celebrate the Airport making history by becoming the first UK Airport to be recognised as the best in the world at the Routes World Conference, we held a special prize draw. Ellie Wilson, one of our valued security officers, took home the first prize of a holiday. Peter Pattinson, from our Cleaning department, won a city break and some colleagues were awarded Greggs, World Duty Free and high street vouchers. We are immensely proud to have achieved this outstanding accolade, alongside retaining the global ‘Best Airport’ award in the 0-5 million passengers category for the second year running. A huge milestone for Your Airport! We have handled over 5,000 tonnes of cargo year-to-date, setting a new record for the first three quarters of the year. This is an incredible achievement and further strengthens our status as one of the UK’s key air cargo gateways. A significant milestone in our history! We are delighted work will get under way on a £17million project to resurface our runway this weekend. The work will ensure one of the most critical pieces of infrastructure in the North East is future-proofed so we can continue to provide the region with vital global connectivity. There is no planned disruption to the flight schedule, with a team of up to 120 people working overnight to carry out the resurfacing works. There is no requirement to have previous security experience, as this exciting position provides a three week Ground Security Operative training qualification. We couldn't be prouder! 😄 We have once again been named as a sustainability sector leader in the annual GRESB infrastructure assessment. The Airport scored an impressive 100% and was ranked 23rd out of 694 businesses worldwide. GRESB independently benchmarks the environmental, social and governance data of companies to provide an insight into business performance on sustainability topics. We are delighted with this result and it is testament to the hard work of our colleagues as we work towards becoming a Net Zero Carbon Airport by 2035.

Celebrating 40 years of partnership with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines ✈️🎉 The Gateshead Millennium Bridge was illuminated last night as we celebrated this incredible milestone with KLM, customers and travel agents at a special event held on Newcastle Quayside. Since 1984, KLM has been a key partner of ours and the airline now operates up to five daily flights to Amsterdam. From the hub, passengers can connect to 155 worldwide destinations, including Budapest, Copenhagen, Munich, Bangkok, Cape Town, Johannesburg and Las Vegas. The partnership has also been vital to the region’s economy - helping to attract inward investment, boosting international exports and increasing inbound tourism.
