Let there be light at Leicester Square! This week New Public illuminated the West End with a installation of eight new neon artworks titled "There Is No Darkness In the Garden Of Light" by mixed-media artist, Chila Kumari Burman MBE for our client Heart of London Business Alliance. In response to the William Shakespeare water fountain in Leicester Square whose inscription reads "there is no darkness but ignorance," the installation is a celebration of light, illumination and inclusivity that reflects Burman's Punjabi-Liverpudlian heritage and the diverse communities of London. Complementing this new work is a collection of Burman's neons at iconic destinations including The Londoner Hotel, The Hippodrome Casino, London Trocadero, Westminster City Council Reference Library, and a screening of her film "Dada and the Punjabi Princess" on the infamous Piccadilly Lights. Commissioned by Art of London for Art After Dark - the bi-annual cultural programme that showcases independent galleries, cultural institutions Royal Academy of Arts, The National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery and the best place to eat and drink in the West End. With thanks to PREMIER, Westminster City Council, LIGHTPOOL LLP, Blackpool Illuminations, Flow Power Solutions, MY LOCAL BOBBY and New Public Creative Producer associate Jen Barnes. Live until late Saturday 12 October! #ArtOfLondon #ArtAfterDark #ChilaBurman #PublicArt #NewPublicProjects

One month ago, New Public deinstalled Yinka Ilori’s “Good Things Come to Those Who Wait” at Piccadilly Circus. Adorning the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain with new sculptures for the first time in 132 years, the installation was extended due to an overwhelmingly positive public response. The reaction exceeded our expectations, and we were incredibly proud to see fantastic media coverage from top-tier outlets including BBC News, Financial Times, ITV, The Guardian, and Dezeen. We extend our gratitude to the talented 'architect of joy' Yinka Ilori and Klara Zepp, as well as Heart of London Business Alliance, Westminster City Council, Piccadilly Lights, New Public's associate Jen Barnes, and Firecracker Works for their invaluable collaboration in making this project a reality. It was an honour to see our work recognised on such a large scale. #PublicArt #CreativeCollaboration #CulturalPlacemaking #Innovation #ArtInThePublicRealm https://lnkd.in/dEani-zm

It’s been one year since we officially launched New Public, and what a journey it’s been! We’ve had the privilege of curating world-class destinations such as Piccadilly Circus - collaborating with the Heart of London Business Alliance, Yinka Ilori, and Westminster City Council to take over the Anteros Monument and Piccadilly Lights - and Chelsea Barracks and The King's Foundation in Belgravia, for the first ‘Modern Masters’ outdoor sculpture programme in partnership with London Craft Week. Looking ahead, we’re excited to be working on a brand partnership with a global beauty brand to be revealed next year, curating public art and cultural programming for the launch of London's newest riverside destination, Fulham Pier, in 2025, and leading a new Cultural Strategy for Marylebone & Baker Street with Baker Street Quarter Partnership. A huge thank you to our clients and the talented roster of artists and innovators who’ve partnered with us to push the boundaries of public art. Stay tuned for our upcoming Leicester Square takeover as part of the Art of London "Art After Dark" from 10-12 October with Chila Kumari Singh Burman MBE! #PublicArt #CulturalPlacemaking #Innovation #PublicRealm #Partnerships #RealEstate

New Public reposted this
Today we launched ‘Good Things Come to Those Who Wait’ by Yinka Ilori, in Piccadilly Circus curated by New Public. ✨ Visitors to Piccadilly Circus, between 20-25 August, can experience this bold new artwork symbolising the power of imagination. Yinka Ilori’s captivating public art installation brings two winged sculptures inspired by Greek mythology to the Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain, embellishing the iconic meeting spot with new sculptures for the first time in 132 years. Based on the Greek tale of Pegasus, the immortal winged horse, Yinka Ilori's creation encourages West End visitors to believe in their ability to make the impossible possible, mirroring a central theme to Ilori’s work. 🖍 Families and fans of mindful colouring can pick up specially created free colouring sheets to help ignite that spark of creativity and imagination, handed out during lunchtimes and available to download via the Art of London website. West End visitors will also discover Young Ambassadors from the Greater London Authority's youth programme, ready to share fascinating insights into local history and highlight hidden gems throughout the West End. 💎 With special thanks to Westminster City Council, Piccadilly Lights, PREMIER Heart of London Business Alliance. – #ArtOfLondon #YinkaIlori #GoodThingsWestEnd #PiccadillyCircus _ Kirsty Tullett-Jones Colleen Considine Mark Williams Emma O.
