The NFDC CEO, Duncan Rudall, and his eldest daughter, Alaska, have taken on a heartfelt mission—to raise funds for the Ricky Grant Unit at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust Hospital, which provided exceptional care to Duncan’s wife during her breast cancer treatment in 2024. Duncan shared: "We wanted to give something meaningful back to the unit and help future patients. One urgent need is replacing the treatment chairs, which provide comfort to those undergoing chemotherapy for hours at a time over several months. Each chair costs £2,065 (with discount), so raising enough for one would have been incredible—two, fantastic. But thanks to overwhelming generosity, we’ve gone far beyond that." Despite not being runners, Duncan and Alaska decided to challenge themselves and run the #ExeterHalfMarathon on 9th February 2025 to raise funds. Thanks to the generosity of family, friends, industry colleagues, NFDC members and supporters, they have now surpassed their goal, raising an incredible £15,737.50! We are truly humbled by this outpouring of support. Initially, the target was for one chair, then two, then three—now we can contribute for more! Thank you all so much for your kindness. It makes us incredibly proud to be part of such a generous and supportive industry. NFDC CEO Duncan Rudall HonFIDE had the pleasure of attending the IDE Spring Seminar at the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds, alongside 200 members of the INSTITUTE OF DEMOLITION ENGINEERS (IDE), industry colleagues and Demolition and Recycling International (D&Ri) KHL Group. The evening was filled with incredible moments, including: 🔹 John Thompson being awarded the Fellowship of the IDE (FIDE) - Thompsons of Prudhoe 🔹 Sean Heron receiving the Honorary Fellowship (HonFIDE) for his exceptional contributions to the industry - Worsley Plant 🔹 A deeply emotional tribute as Adrian McLean, IDE President, presented a posthumous Honorary Fellowship (HonFIDE) to the parents of Angus Holdsworth of Andun Engineering Consultants (RIP) A truly memorable evening celebrating excellence in the demolition industry.
